I left the corporate hospital world after nearly a decade because I was tired of wanting to treat my patients with intention and with grounding, and feeling like the system wouldn’t allow it.

After her PA Surgical Residency at Yale in 2016, Kylie moved to one of the most remote places on earth, devoting her life to advocacy and patient care.⁠

10 years later, after working within that time in Plastic Surgery and Leadership at Cedars Sinai in LA, she is now COO and PA at IvesMD. Here, she's created something different: a safe space where you can be your most authentic self, a place where you are seen, and you are heard. Where patient care is done in a holistic model. On the evening of the Snow Moon, our team shared a sound bath together.

At @ivesmd, we understand that healing begins long before surgery, and includes the people providing the care.

I integrated neuroplastic healing (soundbaths, meditation, etc) into our practice because it’s been transformative in my own life. I track my own data, through biometrics and journaling. And through consistent neuroplastic healing modalities, I’ve seen:
• lower baseline stress over time
• faster emotional recovery after triggers
• clearer intuition and decision-making
• more efficient, restorative sleep

Sound-based practices support regulation, reduce reactivity, and improve clarity. When the nervous system is supported, people show up more present. And I recognize that matters deeply in surgery, for our patients.

Energy matters. Who you let touch you matters.

Being trusted with someone’s body and life is the highest honor. We do not take that lightly. We continuously align ourselves so we can show up fully for our patients.

This is the paradigm shift I intentionally built at IvesMD. Moving beyond traditional, corporate surgery into modern healthcare rooted in presence, regulation, and conscious care. Because our patients, and our team, deserve the highest version of ourselves.

Swipe to hear my first moment of gratitude that I’ve ever been public about.

I first started doing this after one of my annual surgical outreach programs to Mozambique years ago. I’d work with plastic surgeons and the local healthcare teams directly, for years. Every time I’d go, it was hard not to feel overcome with empathy for the lack of resources they deal with every single day. The understanding of what that the local surgeons had to go through to work in a setting such as this without any resources for surgery was beyond heartbreaking. But the female surgeon I worked with (she was one of the first plastic surgeons ever in the entire country- just within the last 15 years), started every day with her own version of a moment of gratitude. I saw the power it gave to all of her team members that looked up to her for strength and courage to take care of all the patients there, going through the worst of it all, that I adopted it too.

So years later, here I am, now finally understanding the importance of intention, and what we do. The importance of grounding the surgical team in surgery, reminding everyone of the true reason of why we are there: For the patients- and they are so deserving of kindness and whole-hearted love from the team caring for them. That’s the kind of surgery practice I want working on me and my loved ones. That’s the level of intentional care we bring at @ivesmd by @kylie.tanabe

One of my favorite treatments to do (and have) are our lasers, and here’s why:

What an absolute whirlwind of the most incredible opening party! Thank you to all of our friends, family, mentors, and colleagues who came to celebrate us at @ivesmd you all mean so much to us, and we couldn’t have started on this truly amazing journey without all of you!!

Over 140 wonderful people who are part of our incredible support systems came to celebrate the opening of our gorgeous new space, that has won over three awards for what we have created as a paradigm shift for what modern healthcare spaces look like for people!

We are just so thrilled to be making our dream a reality- creating a space within plastic surgery where everyone can feel heard, respected, and cared for, with top-tier surgical and non surgical care.
