🏆CKB Red Willow🏆
Tournament RECAP
❗️(WE WON)❗️

I was able to wrangle 91.75” of purebred Grass Panda 🐼, which was good enough to win the Colorado Kayak Bassmaster event at Red Willow Res in McCook, NE this weekend. 4 of 5 scored fish were caught on @chompersbaits salty sinkers (swipe to see exact size and color). The G Formula and soft plastic used to make these baits gets big bites. I’ve been snatching donks on them for over a decade. If your serious about getting big bites, in big moments, get some.

With 10 min left I was in 2nd place by 1”, so I through my @chompersbaits up on a rock pile I knew had to have a fish. As soon as it hit the water I saw a boil, came out of my shoes on a hook set and the ol girl started ripping. She ended up being 19.25”, which gave me a 4.5” cull and solidified the win! Incredible finish, incredible fish, and incredible fishery!

Ps: my @yakattack.us panfish pro is an incredible camera mount! If you are looking for a better way to take pictures I suggest giving them a look!

MEGA.

This fish may be the biggest bass I ever catch in the state of Colorado. I caught her on my new favorite bait. The @chompersbaits pro skirted brush jig. She went 21.25” and weighed a shade over 7lbs. Out here in Rado, that’s a FREAK.

I found a submerged mat in 20 FOW. I flipped my @chompersbaits pro brush jig towards the edge. I waited until my jig hit the bottom. I drug it through the outer edge of the mat, and flipped it up into the air. While the jig was falling it felt like Tiger Woods hit it with a golf club. “THUMP” I knew that this fish was headed back into the mat, and that she was a “good one”. I swung for the fences. As soon as my hookset buried, the force of my swing and the weight of the fish popped 3 guides towards the tip of my rod. One broke off and 2 inserts were ejected out. I could hear it all jingling like keys at the top of my rod, with what now, I knew was an absolute MEGA.

Panicked by the obliteration of the guides on my rod I cranked down my drag. And began to try and horse the fish in. Quickly I realized even my @fish_shimano_north_america Chronarch didn’t need to be testing this big ol’ girl. I back off the drag and let her give me a few hard runs. I was completely soaked in sweat terrified one of my mangled guides would nick my line and ruin my day. I finally saw her jump and about puked. I knew it was the biggest fish I’d ever hooked in Colorado. After what seemed like forever I finally netted her. I was shaking so hard I had to put the net under my leg because I couldn’t physically hold it. That’s when you know you’re alive! Took some pictures and got some measurements and she was back to the depths of that mat to feed some more! Just a truly incredible northern strain LMB! I was fortunate to get to meet her for a little bit that day!

The BEST.jig in the game right now is the @chompersbaits Pro Brush Jig. It doesn’t get hung, and it pins every fish that eats. The skirts flair the guards protects but doesn’t interfere with setting the hook. I prefer the 1/2oz option! The last picture is how they eat it

CHOMPERS!!!! PLEASE READ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Of all the products in @johnstownscheels , the @chompersbaits hanging from these two rows are what I’m most proud of.

Over 20 years ago, my pops put the first pack of @chompersbaits baits in my hand. Then he Texas rigged a 5” green pumpkin stick bait (salty sinker) with a split shot pinched right above the hook. I launched my spinning rod towards the bank from a beat up ol’ John boat, and “WHACK”! I caught my first bass. Since then, I’ve caught thousands on that exact same rig. That moment was the beginning of a life long obsession chasing bass. For the last 7 years I’ve worked to bring recognition to the company that got me hooked on bassin’, and now here they are. Incredibly cool!

Whether I’m throwing a soft plastic or one of their jigs at every grass edge, weed line, brush pile, rock pile, stump, lay down, it doesn’t matter, they flat out catch’em. Please do yourself a favor, and stop by @johnstownscheels and pick up a pack.

Thank you @chompersbaits for making the best baits, and cultivating this life long bassin’ obsession! Proud to give you the recognition you deserve!

PS: check out how they eat the brush jig….CHOAKED

Minn Kota just released their first official Kayak Motor. It’s a 55lb 36” Advanced GPS Terrova. I work for Scheels . We carry anything and everything kayak fishing related. I will be receiving these units in the very near future! We can ship anywhere in the US for free. They retail for $1499.99. This motor is also compatible with the One Boat Network, so if you have a Humminbird Graph that can be networked, you’ll be able to control the motor from your graph. Spot lock, drift, and a ton of other features are now available for your kayak!

I had an absolute blast this past weekend at the Denver International Sportsman’s Expo! Thank you to ISE and the Wickstrom’s for inviting me to speak and show off some cool new fishing products. I had the chance to talk with tons of different people about kayak fishing, @chompersbaits, and @johnstownscheels .

The excitement around the @bonafidefish XTR 130 was INSANE! The XTR was fully decked out with TWO 10” @garminmarine fish finders, a @garminmarine Livescope, a @humminbirdfishing 10” Solix, a @newport_vessels NK180 Pro, and a speciality made @minnkotamotors Terrova 55lb thrust 36” shaft spotlock trolling motor! The opportunities for rigging a @bonafidefish XTR are incredible. Every part of the boat is designed for optimal customization, space and functionality. It offers the angler unmatched stability, a legitimate casting deck, and a tandem seating option. The platform is limitless. We can build any setup for any budget @johnstownscheels as every single part and piece to this boat can purchased at our store! Ps I have this boat on display and available for purchase at @johnstownscheels !

For those that asked me about bass fishing most left with an assortment of @chompersbaits . @chompersbaits has been creating the best jigs and soft plastics for as long as I’ve been fishing. I’ve caught more fish with them than I can count. Hopefully those that grabbed a couple packs will stomp a couple pigs come spring!

For those who had never been to @johnstownscheels I sincerely hope you get the chance to make your way up north to check it out. Wether it’s for a cup a coffee, a ride on our full size ferries wheel in the middle of our store, or to build your kayak for chasing giants, I can promise you will have an incredible experience!

Thank you to all that stopped by and attended my seminar. It was an incredible experience. Hopefully there will be more of this in the future! Spring can’t get here soon enough…we’re ready to swing on’em.
