The BLACKWEEK FOMO is already setting in 🥲

I was so excited to receive a complimentary ticket from the BLACKWEEK team, but unfortunately, the timing didn’t align for me to make it this year. And looking at what’s planned, I’m super bummed to miss it.

This year’s theme, “How to Own It in America,” has me especially interested in the conversations around building brands, the future of influence, and ownership. There’s so much to explore when we think about the communities we build, the stories we tell, and the opportunities we create for each other.

If you’re going, soak it all up! Have the conversations, finally meet the people you’ve been DMing, and share the gems. I’ll be living vicariously through your recaps 🖤

Up next on our "Not Like Us" series is Lauren Strayhorn, MPS, founder of Notedd!

"DEI was created and implemented as a way to act—specifically to remove the barriers placed against qualified people from underrepresented communities and give us access to the opportunities we deserve. Its removal only makes sense that our response is to act in return—through community.

That means creating our own spaces where our diverse voices are heard, valued, and uplifted. Supporting local businesses, entrepreneurs, and organizations within these communities to create more opportunities for growth, empowerment, and sustainment. Creating check-ins and opportunities for colleagues to share how they’re feeling through employee resource groups or other internal organizations. Helping someone you know who lost their job by connecting them to job leads, offering resume support, or providing mentorship during their job search. These are just a few examples of the countless ones we can offer because community building is now more crucial than ever—unifying and coming together is more vital than ever—both personally and professionally.

Remember, the revolution will not be televised—turn the TV off. The problem is not DEI; it never was DEI; it never has been DEI. The time to act and respond is now, and it’s through a unified community that we can create lasting change."

I been gone for a minute, now I’m back with 💅🏾reaching my goal of speaking at THE #essencefestival!

An event filled with inspiration and a celebration of Black excellence and joy, the energy there was truly unparalleled. Being surrounded by Black women, some of whom are my sisters from PACE Bootcamp that I finally met in person, at various stages of their entrepreneurial journeys in a relaxed, supportive environment was uplifting.

Moderating a panel was THE highlight with some of the most incredible, hardworking, talented, knowledgeable entrepreneurs.
