Co-workers turned friends turned family turned business partners. In the almost 10 years we’ve known each other a LOT has changed but I’m so glad we can still laugh at each other like kids while running the gym of our dreams together. Grateful 🤍 taken in Backyard Bos by @l_wit85

I could sit here and tell you this isn’t the race I trained for BUT it’s exactly the race I trained for. There were so many days in this training block I showed up heart broken, tired, anxious, scared of what was to come for my boy and what life without him would look like. I remember repeating to myself over and over if you can show up today and perform this way, imagine what you’ll be capable of come race day because I couldn’t imagine race day being more difficult than THAT moment.

And then my original race day came and at almost the exact time I was supposed to be lining up in the start tunnel I was saying goodbye to my best friend, my heart.

Friday morning came and my circle was all over me to still show up and race, so I signed up for Sunday.

Hyrox was a hard I chose. Mohali battling cancer was not. But how you show up to the hard is really all that matters.

Here’s my takeaway from this weekend -
I can and have done very hard things.
Showing up for yourself will always be the best decision.
Choosing to love Mohali is something I’d choose 1 million more times.
I am so fucking loved and lucky to have the people so many good people in my corner.

Oh and go out the correct tunnel bc no one has time for a 2 minute penalty 🤣 by @l_wit85

Mohali 10/25/19-10/8/26 🌈🐾
I will never find the right words. It would have never have been enough time or the right time but 6.5 years was way too short and cancer really does suck.

When the world became too heavy and too loud, you showed up and wedged your way into every part of my every day. I had no idea how to care for something other than myself but you were patient while I learned. You went from being a cute sidekick to teaching me more about life and love than I ever could have imagined, all without ever saying a word.

I will never be able to thank you for all you taught and gave me. The love, joy, laughs and your companionship. You were always down for what Dad and I called an “adventure” the beach, a hike, a long long walk, the mountains, car rides or just being my passenger prince as I ran errands.

I’ve never met a dog that could tell you exactly what they thought, felt and wanted through their eyes until you. Your gentleness around children, the patience you had with your fur siblings Mojo, Evie, Gravy and Rajah was beautiful. They miss you.

The love you had for your Dad and Grandpa filled my heart with so much joy. The way you could turn a non dog person into a dog lover was the most magical thing I’ve ever witnessed. And truly that’s just it, you were magic.

You were my True North - you challenged my beliefs and changed my values. You allowed me the space to tune into myself and tune out the external noise. You gave the day to day, meaning.

I hope you’re reunited with your brothers in heaven. Keep watching over all of us, especially your dad. You were a once in a lifetime dog and I will miss you every day. I am the luckiest to have been your mom, thank you for choosing me. I love you 🤍 by @l_wit85

Race week - what a cumulation of emotion.

I worked my ass off to prepare for this race. And truthfully I enjoyed every moment of it which was a new race prep feeling for me. I felt myself getting better, stronger and faster. The excitement to show up Thursday and empty the tank is there.

But right next to that reality and feeling lives this sadness and what I’ve learned is called “anticipatory grief” for Mohali. Watching someone I love so much live with a terminal sickness has been so hard and that’s coming from a person that has experienced significant loss before.

I said it earlier this year, “grief is love with no where to go” anticipating that might be worse than the grief itself. I’m not sure as I’m still learning to navigate this new chapter. And while that feels so heavy, I sit here with all the gratitude one could possibly have for a body capable of so much and almost 7 years of the most pure love, joy and companionship from Mohali. I’m the luckiest.

I’m writing this because it might be relatable and I want you to know, you’re not alone. Multiple emotions can exist at once and to be honest in life, they have to because the world keeps spinning no matter what the universe is currently serving you.

So it’s ok to be sad and grateful at the same time. To feel love and sadness. To anticipate excitement and grief. To prepare for something to the best of your ability, be thrown a curve ball and still show up. If this hits for you, I’m sorry, I see you and you’re not alone. If you’re competing this week, I’ll see ya out there! taken in Backyard Bos by @l_wit85

When you intentionally seek out hard things, do you become better equipped to adapt when life inevitably gets hard in ways you didn’t choose?

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately.

Adaptation has been at the root of my training lately, the one controllable at the moment. I’ve intentionally pushed myself toward discomfort, toward the moments when my body and mind are telling me, “this is hard” with the hope that I can learn to get comfortable there.

Maybe that’s what changes.

Your perception of “hard.”

Because you’ve been there before. You’ve felt the moment when something seemed unbearable, and then you carried yourself through it. You came out the other side with something more valuable than the accomplishment itself: evidence that you can handle hard.

Maybe that’s the perspective shift:
This is hard, but I’ve been through harder.
This will be hard, but the only way is through.
If I can show up when things are this hard and give everything I have, what will I be capable of when hard is over?

Resilience isn’t becoming someone who doesn’t feel the hard.

It’s knowing you can feel it fully and still move through it.

Compete with yourself.
Show up for yourself.
Write your own definition of “hard.”
Because every time you do something hard, you’re building evidence for whatever comes next. by @l_wit85

“Challenge is relative. The obstacle depends on your readiness.”

Yesterday we learned that Mohali has lymphoma. I thought we had so much more time with this guy, but life has this way of reminding you nothing is guaranteed. All you can do is live in the now. So as a family we’ll tuck our chins and get to work to keep our guy comfy and happy. We’ll make the most out of every day we have left.

Challenge accepted universe but we won’t rollover on this one.

Prayers and love for our guy please. 🙏 by @l_wit85

That my best friend and today’s her birthday!!!!

It’s not a big one but she deserves a post that will live permanently on the feed because she’s so special and I don’t tell her enough.

If she’s in your life you’re the luckiest because she’s the biggest cheerleader you’ll ever have, the best teammate and friend. Her day could be going absolutely sideways and she will still drop everything to be there for you. She is a voice of reason, the calm to my storm always.

LK - thanks for being my BF, my sounding board, for pushing me to do a Hyrox last year for your bday making me my healthiest and strongest one year later at 41, thanks for the constant challenge to be better and for showing us all it’s possible to be a great mom, a business owner and partner, fantastic friend and a great human all at once.

I love you to the 🌙 and back. by @l_wit85
