People often ask me how a painting comes together. The truth is, every piece has its own journey. For me, a painting almost always starts with color. I never work from a complete plan. I put the first lines down and let the painting lead me. For this one, I started with the heart in the center and built the characters around it.I like to live with a painting before I finish it. I’ll hang it on my wall, walk past it every day, and wait until it tells me what it still needs. The last step was adding silver highlights. That’s probably my favorite part of the whole piece. The silver never looks the same twice. As the light changes, the painting changes with it. People ask me how I know when a painting is finished. That’s very simple: the canvas tells me when it has enough! by @la2art
