Whew!!!! Our college tours have been an adventure I will forever remember!!! We ventured to amazing schools, cool schools, prestigious schools, not so great schools, schools on the ocean, schools in the snow, big schools, small schools, public schools and private schools. We met up with old friends and met some new friends along the way. Fancy dessert spots, yummy restaurants, thrift stores, zoos, beaches, markets, flower shops, ice cream parlors, museums, my favorite stores, perfume boutiques…just name a few. We hiked in mountains, strolled along time square, collected sea shells, laughed a lot, fussed some too, rode on hip-hop bike carts, drove the PCH, ran from rats, smelled perfume and candles to no end, ate good, traveled on trains, rode buses, flew from coast to coast…just to name a few. Boston University, University of South Carolina Honors Program, College of Charleston, Hampton University, University of San Diego, Eckerd College Honors Program, Hawaii Pacific University (I think I am missing two, but oh well) all accepted my little human and they all offered scholarship money. Proud, is an understatement!!! To witness her making a decision, a decision that was best for HER, not what I wanted, not what was fancy, not what had the best bragging rights, but what was right for HER made me admire my daughter so much!!!! She is not my mini-me, she is the ultimate BETTER ME! I have learned so much from her over the years and so proud and honored to be her Mommy!!!! This next chapter is going to be HARD!!! And although I will cry a whole bunch, I am so grateful to know that she is caring, she is a beautiful human being, she is compassionate, she is intelligent, she is cultured, she has seen the best, as well as the worst, she knows love, and she gives love, she is a thoughtful friend, and she is ready. One of the prayers that I prayed over my baby girl from the womb and still to this day is for her to be happy! Not happy with things, but happy within herself and with her self! For her to dream and DO. For her to LIVE every day seeking places and nature to fill her pot and continue to ignite her fire! To see her face at a waterfall in Ecuador fills my entire soul with gratitude!!!! I am RICH! I am so WEALTHY! With support. With love. With admiration. With peace. With joy. With blessings. With favor. With family. With friends. I could go on and on because yesterday on my birthday…..I am so very grateful!! To get “Happy Birthdays” from people of all walks of my life made me feel so happy and full! People from elementary school to the present. People from the block. People from various schools I attended. People from jobs I worked. People I met a long the way. To be able to wake up and look at blue roses every day for the past 2 months. To wake up and see sunflowers, in their off season, but still on my counter. The thought and consideration people put into my messages and gifts and outings!!!!! To be loved is truly a blessing. I am so grateful to EVERYONE that took the time yesterday to celebrate me. Happy Birthday to THE BEST MOMMY a girl could ever ask for!!!!!! This woman has had my back, front, and side from the very beginning!!! She is always there to be my biggest and loudest cheerleader. She is always there to wipe my tears and tell me everything is going to be okay. As if it is possible, she is even a greater Mimi to Dakota. Her sacrifices and love made me and covered me. A very long time ago she left us at TSU, our junior year to go to be a hero. She kept saying that I was going to forget about her and our friendship, out of sight, out of mind. Well Peter, I am still holding on to you like hot glue!!!! by @la____warn

Being so close to my daughter is truly bittersweet!!! This summer went by waaay too fast! We hung out. We argued. We hiked. We traveled. We laughed. We argued. We laughed some more. We talked for hours. We ran errands. We argued. We walked the dogs. We worked out. We cooked. We argued. We laughed. She is truly my best friend. Dropping her off this year is waaaaaay harder than last year 😞. I am not okay 😢. So very blessed she attends college in a place that makes her so happy, makes her better, and where she truly belongs. But I am so going to miss her!!!! Time is a thief. by @la____warn

Be grateful for the MOMENTS…This weekend I was supposed to visit my favorites in different cities to celebrate their birthdays…couldn’t make it work :(. Dakota came to me with the same excited bright eyes and high pitch voice as when she was 3 and 4, with a “bright idea” as she used to call them. Not feeling it at the time I said naaaah. She circled back, as always, and I remembered the times when she was 3 and 4, I said naaaah, but changed my mind, and we had a ball. Moment memories that will last forever. Today wasn’t going to our favorite sushi restaurant while we both wore the makeup done by a 4 year old (her lol), or a spontaneous trip to the museum of puppetry arts, it was dressing up in fun, funky clothes and going to the art museum. She may not be 3 or 4 any more, but she is still my baby and we had just as much fun and laughs. So glad I followed her lead this time too 💙. It’s the time they remember and the moments you remember. I love being Dakota’s Mommy. Sometimes the whole big picture doesn’t look the way you planned, but enjoy the moments. by @la____warn

Ups and Downs. Highs and Lows. Be grateful for your peace, growth, and just the ability to BE amongst the noise that surrounds you. Learning to find the most joy out of moments in time.
