Sol Vivant - Short Film (20 mins)

I was brought on about a month out from the shoot, the original DP who was slated to shoot it asked me to replace him. Emile and Camille accepted, not knowing who I was. We shot over 4 mornings in mid November, starting the morning of my birthday. The idea was to shoot a 17 minute one take as the sun rises with the ending shot a few hours later once the sun was high and harsh.

We lit the car sequence with a flashlight ductaped to the cup holder that I would angle with my free hand as I panned the camera between the two characters. Once outside of the van we relied only on the police lights and cigarettes to light the scene.

Our best take was the first take, as is often the case with long sequences.

Thank you Emile and Camille for trusting me.
