Back in 2018 I embarked in one of the most wonderful journeys I have ever experienced.
Two years later, the end of that journey was a fashion collection I made myself, telling a story I carry with me to this day.

In Ainu, the word Kamui Moshir means “the land of the gods”.
.
The concept behind this collection relates to the ancient idea behind inspiration, that primal drive to create beautiful things as a natural medium to reach the gods, and to an extent, walk alongside them.
.
.
This fashion collection was the final project during my time at the Global Fashion Concentration course (department of Living and Environment Studies, Clothing Science Studies) at Bunka Gakuen University in Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo.
.
Thank you to @mana_hojo and @rottenraspberry_ for their kindness, sweetness and patience during this photoshoot.

11日3月2020年「卒業式の日」Graduation Day.
・
Honestly, posting these derpy ass photos of myself mostly coz they were the only time I’ve had the chance to wear hakama with a very fancy and gorgeous furisode kimono (thank you @nfkimono for letting me borrow these 🫶)
•
But even more honestly, I really miss working on a personal, large creative project and the last time I had a chance to do so was during my time at fashion uni. So that’s it, I’m feeling mopey tonight 🙃

「春の夢」

Me: “Yeah...”

@ben_bim_bagarre: “does that mean you’re gonna sell the other ones?”

Me: 👁️👄👁️‼️

@ben_bim_bagarre: 😨😰… “does that mean you’re gonna wear they other ones? They’re probably super sad…”
•
I have been trying to curate my kimono collection by acquiring new pieces that go well together with the ones I already own, but I am biased towards plum patterns and accessories. I like the symbolism of flowers blooming in winter, like a promise of warmth blossoming in the snow.

友情・木漏れ日・感謝

友情 (Yuujou) means Friendship.

Komorebi (木漏れ日) is sunlight that filters through tree leaves, creating shifting patterns on surfaces.

Kansha (感謝) is gratitude or appreciation.

「川越の梅見頃」
“Best time to see plums in Kawagoe”
2025年2月11日。
•
Plum season in Tokyo is between early February to mid-March. Kind of my favorite time of the year because of *reasons*.
•
Last year I styled my favorite plum themed kimono with some other plum shaped accessories, this kimono is a gorgeous piece with plum blossoms and pine tree prints, it also has some gold embroidered around the pine trees. Bought it second hand in quite good condition ☺️💖✨

I feel accessories are super important in kimono kitsuke. Here I’m wearing my favorite plum shaped kanzashi (japanese hair ornament), which I bought on this day 🥰

「寂しいんですか？」
・
Anyone who has heard me yap about kimono knows most of my collection comes from thrifting around second hand shops and flea markets. I bought this kimono at a pop-up event in my old Uni for 1000¥ and this NEW haori for 500¥ at a flea market in Kawagoe. Both have the same flower motif and a complementary color scheme. Lucky find? More like a match made in heaven 🙏
