Porto, one of the most beautiful cities I’ve been to so far.
Visiting my friend @usuariacomun I had the chance to explore the beauty at the Atlantic Ocean for a week. Sadly the security at Luxembourg airport for the life of me wouldn’t hand check my Film, so the results got kind of unpredictable. Coming from the DM price of roughly 10€ per roll of Kodak gold to Porto, where one roll of Gold is between 15 and 20€, I quickly decided to stick with what I got with me. taken in Porto, Portugal by @labratdoor

Not far from the grave of legendary filmmaker Yasujirō Ozu lies enoshima island. Like Polyphemos, enoshima also harbors a monstrous beast in a cave near the sea.
The legends tell of a fierce five headed dragon named Gozuryu, who terrorized the local villages with floods and earthquakes. In the year 552 however, Benzaiten (one of the seven celestial goddesses of luck) arrived, which caused the island of enoshima to rise from the sea. Her presence calmed down Gozuryu, who fell in love with her. He changed his wicked ways and transformed into a hill to protect Benzaiten. From this day on he slept there, deep in the belly of enoshima, where you can sometimes still see smoke billowing from the depths. taken in Enoshima, Japan by @labratdoor

In Kyoto, the visual pull of the usual suspects is pretty strong and to be honest I was a bit let down by the reality of downtown Kyoto. So my stay in Kyoto produced way less interesting shots, than I thought. It's a rather harsh thing to sy, but I think Kyoto fits the "don't do the golden Route" cliché the best. But nonetheless I had a great time wandering fushimi Inari at night, even though I didn't produce any images I deemed worthy of sharing... taken in Kyoto, Japan by @labratdoor

#ōsaka Was my first stop at the so called "golden Route".

More people, taller buildings... Time to experiment! Inspired by the traditional nobori flags, I wanted to out an aspect ratio that noone talks about.

VERTICAL panoramas. The super tall aspect ratio draws you into the narrow alleys between the scyscrapers like nothing else. Nowadays everyone just plops a drone out of their backpack and shoots straight to the skies, putting themselves above themselves, loosing the wondrous view up. The long lines, pulling your strings from the heavens.

#himejicastle is what propably comes to mind as one of the first images when you think of Japan.

And yes, it's white walls, swung roofs and sheer size are impressive. But - as you know from my style of photography by now - I'm more interested in the little moments between the tourists.

For this I was very glad to visit the garden, that's right next to the castle. It outshines it's famous neighbor a few times with its beauty. taken in Himeji Japan by @labratdoor
