The anxious diaries: York Pride edition 🤣

As soon as I saw the girls confirmed for York Pride I a) squawked loudly then b) made a plan to go. It was just too good a chance to miss, might never happen this far North again. I was not letting the anxiety ruin it. Volunteering wasnt planned initially but actually made it amazing, and it gave me access to escape the crowd when I needed. I met some gorgeous wonderful people. I was on site from 7.30am setting up till I ran out of energy about 7pm ish.

I dont find I panic about doing Pride in Newcastle because its so joyful and feels like family. Yes I was a bit wobbly about being in a different place far from home, driving to York and everything about being alone ... BUT I was thorough with planning! The drive was easy, the Hotel was right on the racecourse. The joy was a big warm hug all around me all the time. It actually makes me feel quite emotional now thinking just how good it felt.

There was so much drag! I loved it all! Spent most of the day in the cabaret tent (more drag) except for when Bones, Flesh and Labelle were on main stage. They did an incredible show in the very hot sun ☀️ the energy level was high despite the heat. Absolutely made up I got to see my 3 fave queens do this live, it was unreal. My face hurt from me beaming the entire set 😂 my only issue is now I know how it feels to be at a Heavenly Bodies show I need more. All the girls. Jeez its addictive. The happy hormones hit is 😘 Im even more obsessed than before and didnt think that was possible 😂 Flesh in the Flesh? OMFG Im in awe. Did manage a v quick hug with Bones and Labelle before they had to dash (busy weekend for them). Probably best Flesh wasnt there Id have been starstruck. Utterly obsessed with watching her 😱 does she have Latin training?! It feels like she does. The legs 😱 Anyway.

Louie and I have collected a few of the @talesonthetynetrail for @stoswaldsuk Peter Rabbits since Wednesday, and we are off to find a few more later today! These are just the large ones, we do have a few of the fluffles as well but will save those for when there's more to share.

Enough time has passed. Not the whole video of me at the meet and greet as this bit is bad enough 😳🫣 me almost forgetting to show @itsjustbones the finished tattoo she drew for me last time we met 🙄😂

In my defence - I was by this point in full flight or fight mode with a side order of mania - overwhelmed by meeting DDC at the door (who gives the BEST hugs omg - I did tell her that), and then immediately getting hugged by Paige and Bonnie sent me spiralling and I'm barely holding it together by the time I got to here in the line - I had just made an involuntary and very ridiculous noise when I saw 7 foot tall Silllexa which did make people laugh at least! 😂

So - here is the edited version of me at the S7 meet and greet, the bit where Elle (thank god for @ellevosque 😂) remembered meeting me previously at the Hotline X gig in December, which made ME remember I had something to show Bones - otherwise, I was away up the line and gone 😂

The group photos are 🫣 - theres 2 versions and in both its manic me tightly gripping Bones and Elle round the waist - hanging on for dear life like they alone can save me from completely losing my shit and bouncing off the ceiling. At least I actually smiled for the separate pic with Bones (my eyes though 😳)

Later, while the excess adrenaline was running rampant and the decision making likely to be questionable for some time, a person I'd never met before (and had said zero words to) complimented my hair. I said 'its called Irish curls apparently' - and they said oh do you have Irish in you .... and my brain chose 'I have had in the past, but not recently' as the entirely unfiltered deadpanned reply.... The range of emotions on their face - probably mirrored on mine - as we both processed what Id said in real time was fun.... Know your audience folks 🫣

So yeah 😳🫣 severe anxiety is NOT fun ever and it really frustrates me that it restricts me doing the stuff I want to do - but just sometimes, it can be (embarrassingly) entertaining afterwards.

Its a vast improvement (and a sign Im dealing with it much better) that I can now laugh at myself with (a bit of) kindness.

Louie and I did our annual visit to the bluebells today. Maybe a day or 2 longer to be fully out, but still gorgeous ❤️ The air was filled with the sound of the running burn and happily tweeting birdies, and the smell was intoxicating: fresh, green, floral - heavily laced with wild garlic - delicious 😂 Lou for once did not immerse himself in the thick, sticky and stinky leaf-mold mud that he usually finds irresistible.... is he finally - at the age of almost 11 - growing up and learning how to behave with decorum?!...

New Tattoos! Hollonov and Disco ❤️

So - since christmas Ive been seeing mirror balls everywhere, from a teeny one in my cocktail at Cafe Mercy, random stickers on lampposts, big ones on ceilings, pinterest shoving images of them at me, Harry Styles then had the new album with of course lots of mirror ball images and references (I bought a pin), so so many before I finally started clocking it as a pattern (I was a bit slow for me!) ..... and then there was the 'ok I really need to get one tattooed' moment - the huge one on the stage curtain at Priscilla. So - Ta-da! Shes done. I do love to dance under a mirror ball.

Also had to get a little Heated Rivalry one. All obsessions are tattoos as we know 😂 - and I finally (after much deliberation) chose Hollonov shirt numbers ❤️ still would like 'stupid Canadian wolf bird' somewhere 😂

Both done on friday afternoon, 1st May. Ive just now taken off the second skin and gently cleaned them and moisturised them, theres still some excess ink on my skin though, didnt want to rub at it. Healing very nicely I think ❤️

Last night at DRUKS7 tour in Newcastle, at the Tyne Theatre ❤️ I loved every second - except for the mild panic that got me during the queue for the meet and greet that caused me to shake soooo bad, trip over words and make a VERY embarrassing noise at Silllexa 😂 (it was an expression of awe and love I promise!)

One each from my many pics taken. These girls put on a show ❤️ and theres no other energy or atmosphere like a room full of drag fans enjoying and appreciating drag.

Season 7 is by far my favourite because of every single one of these girls. But also because Bones and Sally were on it 🤷🏼‍♀️😁

Last night ❤️ my first Yungblud gig. What a show, the boy was born a rock star and god can he sing. Pyros were blisteringly hot, the front people must have cooked. There were 2 lots of confetti! It was all gorgeous.

Report from an anxiety perspective - happy to say it was mostly panic free. It was the arena, Im famously not great at handling the bigger gigs - give me the NX or City Hall any day.

We got there quite early so no crush to find a spot to stand (Tina drove and we parked a short walk from the arena which meant getting in and out was stress free). No queue for drinks, which were hot cuppas because it was baltic 🤣 We were in standing, which allowed freedom to move around till comfortable like at a smaller gig and this really helped! I barely noticed the size of the room or all the seating surrounding it.

It was fairly empty when we went in. People filled the room up around us slowly but it never felt too much, at least until there was a group of people who got way too close to me just at the start of Doms set who were shoving and pushing their way through from the back, which did stress me out and had they stayed and continued to barge all around I would have had to move to the side. Thankfully they pushed on forward pretty quickly once the show started, and I ended up in a small space with room to breathe surrounded by calm people, and I could breathe, relax, move and just enjoy the show.

We were really near the side door so getting out into the air at the end was quick .

So despite all the worry and trepidation I managed it and it was wonderful. Happy with how I handled my feelings - sounds stupid but a busy Aldi can have me in a panic so this amount of people logically should send me spinning out - and it can if it's not carefully planned to allow some control. I know music dials the stress/anxiety levels down for me generally, and Im so happy live gigs are able to work the same (when theres no arseholes beside you anyway 🤣).
