Meet the artists! This month's Labyrinth Poetry Night is all about Walking into things: obstacles in life.

Noor ('Ditee) is the Black, queer, and mad main characters of a rom com. A teaching poet, she writes through an intersectional lens that experiments with language and sound as conduits of emotional expression. A formalist, she sees poetic language as a medium more fluid than watercolor. Her themed, virtual workshops create horizontal spaces to grapple with poetic inquiry in a rigorous, anti-elitist writing community.

An abolitionist, Noor writes to imagine the future she wants for her people into existence. She loves double meanings, creative grammar, and words with “exquisite mouthfeel.” Noor is the author of Praise to Lesser Gods of Love, published by Glass poetry in 2019. Join us for a new edition of Labyrinth Poetry Night on Sunday, May 31st. This months theme: Walking into things: obstacles in life.

Some common phrases sound entirely normal, until you translate them. Your Dutch boss will ask you: "Waar loop je tegenaan?" But in English that conjures up images of trees, doors and pesky bike lane posts. They were in the way and now
you’re injured. Ouch! How? Why? What to do about it? Let's talk about life's obstacles, emotional, practical, unexpected...

Four powerfull poets and host Paula Breuning will take the stage to explore just that. Expect stories of frustration, resilience, absurdity and maybe even the art of laughing it off.
