Yesterday someone asked me something and I can’t stop thinking about it so I’m going to share some of the conversation:

They were asking me about my education and goal of pursuing orthopaedics and then about CrossFit and how much I train. And after explaining the process of the residency match and how I incorporate fitness into my rotation schedules and all the goals I have for my future (clearly was a deep conversation), they asked, “So going into this process knowing how difficult and challenging it is, even with the chance of failing at it, that doesn’t stop you from wanting to do it all?”

In the moment, I thought it was a funny question and answered, “Why would that stop me?”

But then I realized that maybe knowing all of the challenges that come with pursuing a goal WOULD stop some people from going after their own dreams. And that breaks my heart a little. The fear of failure can either be your downfall or your catalyst. So if you’re sitting here reading this, wondering whether or not it’s worth the risk to go after a dream, I’m here to tell you to take the leap. And if you’re facing a roadblock in the midst of chasing a goal, keep going.

If you’ve never felt this feeling before, 10/10 recommend.

It’s more than just hitting a lift, an unexpected one at that. It’s proof of your dedication. It’s proof that we could do hard things. That we could go one more rep, one more round. A mindset that bleeds into every aspect of your life. It’s a representation of the community you surround yourself with. A highlight into every time you told yourself “I can do this.” And it’s a dang good time.

1. Effort is a choice. The outcome isn’t. 💪🏼

5. Don’t look at me during sports psych seminars because I’m probably tearing up 🥲
