POSTS STORIES REELS

I spent Global Running Day a little differently this year.

I didn't get a run in, but I did pass my USATF Level 1 Coaching Certification and complete additional coursework in endurance training, training design, reactive strength, and sport-specific strength and power. 🫢

Several years ago, I couldn't run a mile.

Today, I'm studying the sport that changed my life.

But for me, this was never about collecting certifications or having all the answers. It's about learning.

The more I study running, the more convinced I become that there is no one-size-fits-all approach. Every runner brings a different body, background, goal, strength, challenge, and story to the starting line.

That's why I'm so passionate about education.

I want to help make running feel less intimidating, less confusing, and less like the best information is hidden behind paywalls. I want to help people understand the "why" behind their training, build self-trust, and find the combination of movement that keeps them healthy, engaged, and excited to keep coming back.

Because at the end of the day, you are what you repeat.

Whether you're a runner who lifts, a lifter who runs, someone chasing a big dream, or someone trying to finish their first mile, your journey matters.

And this is just the beginning.

I'll keep learning. I'll keep asking questions. I'll keep studying endurance, strength, performance, and the many different ways people find success in this sport.

Because I don't want to be a gatekeeper.

I want to be a guide.

The table is large.

There's room for all of us here. 🧡🏃‍♀️📚

Stay tuned for a deeper dive into this journey on the next episode of @laceupandlisten

This page started as a love story.
If you scroll all the way back, you’ll find my first post, my engagement ring.
This handle was my wedding hashtag. And for a long time, “happilyeverabraham” held a version of my life that meant everything to me.
That chapter was intoxicating. It was real. It was full of love.
But I’m not there anymore.

So…hi. I’m Bri.
And this is laceupwithbri.
A new name for a new chapter, but not a new person.
Just a more honest one.

I’m not fully moved in yet...but this is my home.
It’s a work in progress. There’s still renovating to do.
But for the first time in a long time, I have a direction forward, and it doesn’t feel as scary as it used to.
Because I’m a bit of a fixer-upper too.
Room by room, I’ll build this space.
And piece by piece, I’ll rebuild myself.

Part of that means sharing something that isn’t easy:
Michael and I have decided to separate.

It’s funny how something can happen in a relationship and feel so monumental that it exposes years of truth...layers and things we can no longer unsee. And once those things come to the surface, the only honest way forward is to face them.
For us, that means taking space to figure out who we are individually.

It might not look traditional.
But we’re realizing…we’re not very traditional people.
We still care for each other deeply.
But we’re no longer willing to abandon ourselves in the process.

This has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever walked through.
Grief doesn’t follow rules.
It shows up in waves...sometimes quietly, sometimes strong enough to bring you to your knees.

And I’m learning not to run from it.
I’m learning to stay.
I don’t have all the answers right now.
But I do know we have a plan.
And for now, that’s enough.

So this is the reset.
A new name. A new space. A new way forward.
Same me...just meeting myself here.
Thanks for being here. 🧡

thank you to @theverybusybee for capturing this emotional day 🥹

In January 2024, I crossed the marathon finish line in seven hours. injured, frustrated, and honestly… heartbroken.
Six months off running forced me to confront everything I didn’t want to: my habits, my ego, and the way I’d been training.

So I made myself a promise, to take this sport seriously.
No shortcuts. No skipping strength. No “just winging it.”

I switched from Galloway to Hal Higdon.
Twelve weeks of base training brought my easy pace from 15 minutes to 11. That was the first sign that training works.
Hal got me my sub-5 following the 18 week plan.
Dopey humbled me again..IT band pain, tendon flare-ups, lace bite.. but it taught me what strength really means.

Then came Chicago.
This time, with another 12 week base, I added more Pilates, speed work, and discipline.
I found Pfitzinger’s 18/55 plan.. absolutely brutal, but transformative.
I learned how to train by feel, not pace. To let my body guide me, not my watch.

And from a 7-hour marathoner to a sub-4 finisher in less than two years, I can tell you this:
Progress is a slow, stubborn climb, but it happens.

The fact is, anyone can run a marathon.
But having a solid plan, respecting it, and showing up with your best effort for every scheduled workout, that’s what lets you cross the finish line with less agony and a smile on your face.
It’s not impressive to skip the journey and still get the medal. Our bodies are resilient...they can do hard things.
But what’s truly impressive is taking the time, making changes, and doing the work to reach the goal you set for yourself.

If you’re stuck, you might just be doing the same thing expecting a new result.
Push a little differently. Ask for help from those who’ve done it.
Kill your ego. Trust your body.
Meet yourself where you are...and grow from there.

Because when you finally see what trusting the process can do…
It’s worth every mile. 🖤

P.S. I want to note all training programs I use are free, and the books I use to educate myself are available on Spotify.

#MedalMonday NYC Edition 🍎

When I found this outfit and patch at @adidas earlier this week, I thought it was just a great look with an even better message.

Little did I know just how much that message would resonate by the end of the weekend.

What started as a fantastic easy long run disguised as the NYC Marathon ended with seven miles of walking to avoid a full-blown IT band disaster. 🫠

There’s a lot to unpack, but that’s for another post.

For now, New York City, WOW. What an incredible city and an unforgettable experience.

Endlessly grateful to @shokz and @ponyflo for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to be part of something so special. ❤️

ATL I don’t think I’ll ever find the words for what that week meant to me. 🫧☀️

Three nights of Ariana Grande. Nights one, two and three. Seven years of friendship. The OG group chat doing exactly what we said we were going to do.

I got to take my little sister to the floor. We heard that snippet the morning of night two and just KNEW something was coming. What I didn’t know was that a camera would catch the two of us reacting to it or that we’d end up on ARIANA’S PAGE. 😭

My phone started blowing up in the middle of the concert and when I realized what happened, I absolutely lost it. Getting noticed by Ariana is something you never really expect. Getting to share that moment with my sister? I’ll carry that forever.

And on the final night, I got to bring everyone down to the floor. The very place where we all met. The place where, seven years later, we still belong whenever Ariana comes to town.

There was a lot happening in my life during those two weeks. A lot I was carrying that nobody in those crowds could have known. But between the music, the people I love, the tears, the laughter and the inevitable Waffle House runs, I felt like myself again.

That entire experience was validating in ways I’m still trying to put into words.

Seven years later, the group chat is still showing up. Still making memories. Still keeping our promises to each other.

We said we'd be there. And we were. Together. On the floor. Exactly where we started.

Thank God for Ariana Grande. Thank God for Waffle House. And thank God for the people who make seven years feel like just the beginning. ♡

P.S. waking up to an email from @shokzusa
asking to join the NYC marathon team and be a sponsored athelete was the most surreal moment of my running career. and all because of my story. not followers. not engagement. my story. and ill never let any of you forget that.

Spectating the @chimarathon was an absolute blast!!! The amount of smiles and laughter @gb_raps brought to the course was immeasurable.
The commentary was iconic. The smiles, ear to ear. At mile 3, 13, and 25.5 we were there bringing the vibes to the function. My question to Tony is, how are those arms feeling today!?

So grateful we all had the opportunity to come out and support our loved ones while also cheering on 55,000 incredible runners.

I needed this opportunity. I needed to see that course again. And I needed my time with the greatest people I get to know.

Can’t wait for next year !!!!

In April, I ran the London Marathon and got to experience firsthand what it feels like to be carried along by the crowds. The energy, the noise, the people who show up just to cheer — it was something special. I left wanting to pay that forward and be part of the noise for someone else.

So proud of @rundisneylaine, @_notceline @a_french_girl_in_disneyworld @lindseylikelyatdisney @sexycinderella @jen.runs.on.pixie.dust @the_blowe_show and so many others.

Had a blast cheering with @loading_disney @nedwards51 @laceupwithbri and @gb_raps (with his popular sign) and can’t wait to be out there again a few weeks in NY.

Between exploring the city, the food, finding our way around, and making a whole weekend out of it, it was another reminder that the runDisney crew and the magic we find at Disney does not have to stay inside the parks.

London gave me a new appreciation for the crowds. Chicago gave me a chance to be one of them. by @laceupwithbri

It's just a drizzle, ya dont wanna make memories???

In reality --we did go home 😆😆😆
We will try again tomorrow, @horrornightsorl by @laceupwithbri

I wasn’t looking for her, ya know?

A couple of months ago, I was getting divorced and rebuilding my life. Therapy every week, psychiatrist every month, medication and confronting things about myself and my past that I’d spent a long time avoiding or surviving.

I was locking in. I had every intention of being alone for a while.

And then there was Casey.

I don’t need to disrespect my marriage to be honest about where I was when it ended. I had been without a real emotional connection for a long time. In many ways, I had already been grieving something I was technically still inside.

So I wasn’t prepared for what it would feel like to simply be met.

Not chased. Not rescued. Met.

For the last couple of months, Casey and I have talked about everything. What we want. What scares us. Where we’ve screwed up and what we refuse to repeat.

And then we got two weeks together.

Two weeks isn’t a lifetime, but it’s long enough for fantasy to make room for reality.

I saw her tired, stressed, happy, frustrated and completely ridiculous. We woke up together, handled real life and spent plenty of time doing absolutely nothing.

And somehow the ordinary parts made me more certain than the extraordinary ones.

I don’t love the idea of her.

I love her.

And I really fucking like her, too.

I love who she is when nobody is performing. I love that she has her own ambitions, standards and life.

And I love who I am beside her.

I’m still me. Still independent. Still ambitious. Still building the life I fought very hard to get back.

She doesn’t complete me. She meets me there.

Maybe that’s why I can recognize this for what it is.

This isn’t somebody filling an empty space. This is somebody meeting me in a life I fought very hard to rebuild.

So I’m not afraid to say publicly what I’ve become very certain of privately:

I love this woman. Deliberately.

And for the first time in a very long time, love doesn’t feel like something I have to survive.

It feels like something I get to live.

Ladies and non ladies, This is Casey. My Casey.
