For the girls who love an enemies-to-lovers, easy-to-read romantasy, this duology is for you.

A healer and a killer make the most unlikely pair as they discover that good and evil aren’t always so black and white. And, of course, we all love a man with a dark side who’s only soft when it comes to the woman he loves. by @laceyslib

For our August pick, we’re following the story of a tradwife influencer who wakes up one day to an entirely new life. Think Freaky Friday, but instead of switching bodies, she’s thrown into the life she’s been romanticizing online. Can’t wait to dive into this time-travel adventure and explore the realities of life as a traditional American woman in the 19th century. by @laceyslib

A tender letter from a father to his young son, Gilead reflects on a life lived and the generations that came before him as he faces his final days. It is a largely plotless but beautifully written lamentation on forgiveness, joy, love, life and death. by @laceyslib

Reading The Midnight Library felt personal. It reminded me how powerful perspective can be, how even our lowest points can look different when we’re given the space to see them clearly.
Watching Nora try on a million different versions of her life made one thing so clear: regret will convince you that somewhere else is better. But even the “perfect” life isn’t perfect when it isn’t meant for you. There is something freeing about realizing that the life you have, messy and ordinary and imperfect, might already be the right one.
The book also captures depression in a way that feels honest. Like sinking into thick mud, exhausted from trying to pull yourself out. And yet, with a shift in perspective (+ therapy and medication), things can become brighter. Sometimes healing is not about becoming someone new. Sometimes it is about releasing the blame for things that were never yours to carry. by @laceyslib

The Guardian and the Thief is a quiet meditation on morality and the fragile illusion of objectivity in the face of desperation. It reminds us how easily judgment comes when survival enters the room.
This story asks us to reconsider the certainty with which we say, “I would never.” It gently exposes the privilege behind that conviction. When a mother is fighting to protect her child, and a young man carries the weight of his family’s survival on his shoulders, right and wrong blur into something far more human.
Above all, it is a powerful reminder that no one should be defined by their worst day. Compassion, not condemnation, is the lens this story urges us to choose. by @laceyslib

Tom Lake is a quiet reflection on a woman who once brushed against the promise of an acting career in Hollywood and now finds herself rooted in a very different life. Set against the stillness of an orchard during the pandemic, the novel meditates on young love, lasting marriage, and the bonds of family. Again and again, it seems Lara might claim her long-awaited moment of recognition, yet the grand role never arrives. What she gains instead is a life of steadiness and devotion and a love that is not dazzling, but enduring. In choosing the ordinary over the extraordinary, the novel suggests that meaning often lives in small, repeated moments rather than singular triumphs. Though not exhilarating in plot, Tom Lake is rich in nostalgia and quiet grace. by @laceyslib

From a $50 loan from his father to building one of the most iconic brands in the world, Phil Knight’s memoir is a raw and honest account of what it truly takes to build something from nothing. He doesn’t romanticize the journey. Decades of financial uncertainty, relentless risk, and personal sacrifice are laid bare. For anyone drawn to entrepreneurship or considering a lifetime of betting on yourself, this is an absolute must-read. by @laceyslib
