“Rather we are asked to know ourselves enough that we can stay open to the truth of others, even when their truth or their inability to live up to their truth has hurt us. We are broken open or we willfully shed.” -Mark Nepo

Tomorrow ‘72 will be premiering at the prestigious Santa Barbara International Film Festival! @officialsbiff I am so full of wonder and reflecting….on the fact that over the last couple of years, I have had the great honor to portray some of the most fascinating female characters I’ve ever read. I am living my dream, exercising my art and telling important stories…in this body, with this voice and this life experience. Today, I am soo grateful to the wonderful writers I have worked with, who have dug deep in their own souls to bring these stories and these women to life. Cherrie Moraga, Evangeline Ordaz, Gabriela Garcia Medina, Luis Aldana, Miguel Caballero, Evelina Fernández, Ben Benne, Luis Alfaro, Juan Jose Alfonso, Marissa Chibas. Their stories have made me wiser, stronger and more compassionate. Words are Power. Thank you for these DREAM roles!!! @the72film Love you onscreen hubby Al Espinosa! Photo:PeterMark by @lachepps

Reposting here a clip from immigration activist @joseiswriting. Thank you for highlighting this. I’m so proud to have shared the screen with so many wonderful actors depicting this important issue affecting us all. Written by the amazing @adriandukes and directed by @jesmacallan who took such good care of us.

I have been holding this story in my bones for quite some time now. It truly has been an honor to get to know Marissa’s Cuba! Marissa’s Gloria! Every single magic maker on this set was a star. To witness the passion and expertise of the crew and production team and my fellow actors was so inspiring. And Marissa Chibás… the lioness leading us all..
well, she got us to the finish line and we made a movie!!! Can’t wait for you to meet the Cienfuegos family 🌟 by @lachepps

To have THIS be my first guest star on TV was an answer to a call from my soul. The cast and crew of All American who had been together for 7 seasons already, welcomed me to their family with so much kindness and love. From my wonderful directors, that made me feel safe, to make up, hair, wardrobe and every member of the crew!
It is a show that has walked the talk and been an example of how good TV can be meaningful, entertaining and groundbreaking all at the same time. A show with a beating heart and a very clear, conscience and awareness of what they were putting out in the world.
To Nkechi, I am forever grateful for your belief in me. And even more grateful for the type of story telling and healing you champion! Thank you as well to my wonderful agents Tom and Lauren at Metropolitan Talent Agency and Leah Daniels-Butler Casting and Gregory Kulhanjian! Enjoy the final season of All American I am truly honored to have been a part of it. @cwallamerican @ldbcasting by @lachepps
