American Odyssey - Part 2

In the depth of winter some would say we were foolish to do such travel, and that may be so. Without winter tyres and fantastic self confidence, the ranges we roamed. The desert in particular gave way to probably the coolest landscapes and towns I've ever been. More than anything, the US took two average guys, burdened by the mundane and elevated us both in ways that a regular holiday could not. It was gritty, it was real and more meaningful than much of my other travels. After nights sleeping in the snow, dropping well below zero we soaked into plush king sized beds and relished in an early night like we somehow earned it. The mornings that weren't blurry eyed and rushed to check out were spent in diners and roadhouses feasting on food that could only be described as intoxicating before the drive began once more. There was something very special about Arizona and Utah in particular, maybe it was the people we met, the landscape, the feeling of freedom you get on an open road or a bar with $2 Coors, whatever it was, I want more of it. Part 3, nek week. by @lachlan.edge
