Been a weird week. Played probably my favourite show ever and then went to the hospital for some dumb shit. Im like, silly levels of sick atm but figuring it out. Making a post to shout out some real ones.

Posting cringe on main: super proud of this show. I have been so out of touch with the local scene for the last couple years since the last alera show and getting back into it the last 6 months has been so refreshing. There are so many good bands that are hungry in a way i dont remember seeing 5 years ago and this show carried that energy with it - im grateful for the trust from @signals_aus to make this work.

This shit only works when the bands are sick and people make the effort to get out of the house and show support. None of this happens by accident, everyone involved from the bands to the attendees had to really give a shit and im both thankful to everyone that was there and grateful i got to be a part of the process.

Massive thankyou to @seanofthenev from @noiseriot for his help on promo - this dude is smart asf and his help with running ads for this was probably the most significant part of making this event a success. He was able to make sure the right people saw the ads and as a result, awareness that the show was even happening was no longer an issue. If youve ever run a show, youll know this is half the battle when theres a hundred other shows on - you just get lost in the crowd but Sean made sure that wasnt the case. Do yourself a favour and hit him up if you want to run a show, his advice and services are invaluable.

Anyway, im just really happy. Last night was probably one of my favourite shows to play or attend ever and its because of everyone coming together and that fucking rules. There's way more people to thank, but you all know who you are, I love and appreciate you

I wanna go crazy mode with shows this year and organise tours with people that give a shit. If that's you, hmu.

Essay below, tl;dr is that BTS is finally complete

Back when I wrote this record in like 2018, I had this grand vision of what Alera would be. I had this vision that was greater than just the music, I wanted it to be its own little universe you could become immersed in, somewhere that others could escape to and get away from the world, just as I had writing these songs. I was probably too ambitious, but I feel like we mostly got there with our tightly knit community who would come together to uncover the secrets Alera always alluded to.

The final piece to bring this all together was a definitive physical edition of this record, something that met my vision for this project. We'd put out the original lathes and iterated with many different alt versions with @stiffcut_records but still, I think we were all hungry to create a definitive version of this record, a proper plant pressing.

Some years on now after a lot of behind the scenes back and forth, we finally have Beware The Snake on pressed vinyl with the official artwork on the sleeve and a custom insert, all designed and laid out by me.

If you love this record like I do, I recommend picking one of these up. I don't know how long stock will last and I doubt this will ever see another pressing. If you do pick one up, please share it on socials and tag the band, I'd love to see it.

Lastly, sucks to suck @antivinylvinylclub you should have said yes when we asked you 😘 (this is a joke, we love avvc)

It's bittersweet to see things come full circle at last, but I'm so glad we got here.
