*Is the latch correct? 🤱*

One of the most common worries when breastfeeding — and a good latch makes ALL the difference for you and your baby.

In this carousel, I'm sharing the 5 signs I always look for during a feed as a lactation consultant:

*1.* Baby's mouth — wide open, fish lips
*2.* The chin — touching the breast, nose free
*3.* Sucking — slow, deep & rhythmic
*4.* Mom's comfort — no sharp pain
*5.* Milk transfer — the whole picture

Remember: No single sign is enough. We always look at the whole feed. 💛

*Found this helpful?*
Save it for your next feed & send it to a mama who needs it.

A feed should be a moment of connection, not suffering.

Today, as a lactation counselor, this is what I tell every mama who comes to me worried:

YOU ARE CAPABLE&ENOUGHT, AND SO IS YOUR BODY

Here are the 9 myths I hear the most in DMs and consultations. Let's debunk them once and for all.

Swipe to the end, the last one is critical.

Have you heard one of these? Let's talk in comments 🤍 by @lact.alma

You DON'T want to stop breastfeeding when you're at work?

Save this. You'll need it at 10am on your first day back. 👇

Swipe to know the exact 5-steps plan I give to my clients:

Most moms quit because they think it's all or nothing.
It's not.

You can program your feeding/ pumping hours for your work shift.

I show you in the Carousel how to chose the best hours per day to breastfeed and pump, so your body adjusts before you go back. No engorgement& no stress.

And remember: You are enough and so is your body.

If your baby wants to nurse again 30 minutes later...
It doesn't mean your milk isn't enough.

It means he is growing. It's called cluster feeding, and it's completely normal.

Your body knows. Your baby knows.

Trust the process 🤍

*Motto to remember: You are enough, and so is your body.*

🇺🇸 I'm not a mother yet but during my studies I understood this:

If it hurts, it's not your fault. It's a lack of information, not a lack of love.

Your hormones make you doubt, but your baby never doubts you.

You don't need to be perfect, you need to be supported. 🤍

If you felt like this today, you are not alone. by @lact.alma

To want to help families, it wasn't because I had beautiful days. I had unbearable days. Your bond is stronger than postpartum hormones. Keep going, you're doing an amazing job🤍

Let's now talk about different positions that make mom's breastfeeding experience easier:

🤱 5 Breastfeeding Positions. Same love.

There is no ONE perfect position - there is the one that works for YOU and your baby.

1️⃣ *Cradle Hold* - The classic. Perfect for bonding and eye contact.
2️⃣ *Cross-Cradle* - Extra hand control to guide baby's latch. Amazing for small or preterm babies.
3️⃣ *Football Hold* - Your C-section best friend. Keeps baby away from your incision.
4️⃣ *Side-Lying* - Your nighttime savior. For restful feeds.
5️⃣ *Laid-Back / Biological Nurturing* - Let gravity and baby's instincts do the work.

Why learning 3+ breastfeeding positions is a game-changer ✨?

Because every feed is different. Here's my schematic breakdown:

*Position 3: Football Hold 🏈*
Baby is tucked under your arm, alongside you. Your arm supports head & neck.

→ Why we love it: Perfect after a C-section, great for large breasts, oversupply, or twins.

Pro tip: Tuck baby's legs behind you and use a pillow to bring baby to breast height.

*Position 4: Side-Lying Position 🌙*
You both lie on your sides, facing each other, tummy-to-tummy.

→ Why we love it: Ideal for night feeds and resting while feeding. Reduces strain on your body. Pro tips: Keep baby's nose clear, bring baby close to you, and support your back with a pillow. Head well supported.

*Position 5: Laid-Back - Biological Nurturing 🍃*
You recline at 45°, baby lies skin-to-skin on your chest.

→ Why we love it: Encourages baby's natural self-latching instincts. Gravity assists baby toward the breast. So calming for fussy babies and perfect feeding.

Golden rule for ALL positions: Tummy-to-tummy, ear-shoulder-hip aligned, and bring baby to breast, not breast to baby.

Which position was your favorite? Tell me below 👇

Don't forget to save this for later 📌 You will thank yourself at 3 AM. by @lact.alma

*🤱 Breastfeeding & Nipple Cracks - Let's talk about it.*

Sore, dry, cracked nipples? You are not alone. It's one of the most common concerns in the first weeks of breastfeeding, and it doesn't mean you're doing it wrong.

This little guide covers:
✨ What they are
🔍 Why they happen (latch, friction, dryness...)
🛡️ How to prevent them
💛 How to soothe & heal gently

Remember: A good latch makes all the difference, keep nipples dry, and a few drops of your own breastmilk can work wonders.

Healing takes time. Be gentle with yourself. You are doing amazing.

If pain is severe, you see signs of infection, or cracks don't improve after a few days, please reach out to your midwife, lactation consultant, or healthcare provider for personalized support.

You are not alone 🤍

EN: Healthy, full-term babies are perfectly prepared to breastfeed. Skin-to-skin contact with their mother activates a series of reflexes that they acquire while still in the womb.

FR: Les bébés en bonne santé et nés à terme sont parfaitement prêts à être allaités. Le contact peau à peau avec leur mère active une série de réflexes qu'ils acquièrent alors qu'ils sont encore dans l'utérus. by @lact.alma
