The real test of understanding isn't the answer.
It's the explanation.
When a child solves a problem and can walk you through their thinking — that's when you know learning truly happened.
But when a child gets the answer and can't tell you how?
They're not learning. They're performing.
Next time that problem shows up in a different form, they'll be stuck.

Moments like these remind me why I do what I do.

This isn't about a single competition. It's about years of patiently building strong mathematical foundations, developing critical thinking, and helping children discover that they are capable of far more than they imagined.

Every medal tells a story of consistency, discipline, intentional teaching, and above all, God's grace.

I don't just teach children to solve mathematics questions, I help them become confident mathematical thinkers.

Our game needed arrow keys, our mobile devices didn't have them.
So I stopped the class, opened a new project, and taught my students how to build the keys themselves.

Not because it was planned.
Because that's what real problem-solving looks like.

We'll wire it into the main game next class but first, they had to own the skill independently😉
