LA DÉRIVE: A SURREALIST INTERVIEW WITH SHARON ANATOLE

In this latest chapter of surrealist interviews, @rosemarievalentinaa speaks with writer, thinker and contemporary anthropologist @sharonfromhr.

Based in London, her current research explores sexual desire and its positive correlation to imagination as opposed to pornography-induced arousal. LA DÉRIVE first encountered her through her Pleb vs Bum Lost Property lecture at Saatchi Yates.

IN CONVERSATION : GABRIEL MRABI

In the middle of the American Vintage store, LA DÉRIVE meets with photographer @gabrielmrabi.

Winner of the American Vintage Photography Prize at the 2025 Hyères Festival, Gabriel is now presenting Clock Scenes. Through twenty portraits of clocks frozen at ten o’clock, the hour of Marie-Laure de Noailles’s death, the photographer evokes her presence and suspends time, blurring the lines between documentary and fiction.

The exhibition is now being featured at @villanoailles until February.

For LA DÉRIVE, Gabriel talks about his start with photography, his goals of being a filmmaker, and how to stay authentic while entering into the industry.

CREATIVE SPOTLIGHT: LUCIE GRAY

London-based artist Lucie Gray approaches painting as a correspondence between past and future selves. Her works become both imagined possibilities and souvenirs of lived experience, fragments of what the body remembers, carries and hopes to become.

Through a playful yet quietly unsettling pictorial language, Gray explores desire, vulnerability and the complexities of the female experience. Exaggerated figures, vivid colours and familiar domestic scenes become sites of subtle tension, where humour and irony conceal deeper feelings of longing, frustration and resistance.

What do objects do once we’ve left the room?

In our latest conversation, @arina.baburskova speaks with artist and curator @alinalutaeva about the relationships we form with everyday objects, their capacity to hold memories and meaning, and the possibility of a life beyond our perception.

Taking Lutaeva’s exhibition La Vie secrète des choses, presented at Nulle Part Gallery in Paris earlier this year, as a starting point, the conversation moves between the philosophy of objects, the role of the exhibition space, and the ways our surroundings quietly shape our experiences.

An invitation to reconsider the familiar, and to imagine what might exist beyond what we see.

DIMANCHE À LA DÉRIVE : L’ENFANT SOVAGE

Pour cette nouvelle série, nous suivons un·e créatif·ve le temps d’une journée: dans ses déplacements, ses habitudes, ses rencontres et les lieux qui nourrissent sa pratique.

Une manière de découvrir la création autrement, à travers la façon dont chacun·e traverse et observe la ville.

Dans cet épisode, nous suivons Fanny, @lenfantsovage dont la pratique se définit par le situationnisme. Au fil de ses déplacements, elle collecte les traces laissées dans l’espace urbain : murs, graffitis, affiches, inscriptions et fragments d’art de rue, qu’elle scanne et transforme en matière artistique.

Une dérive à travers la ville, guidée par ce qui attire le regard et ce que l’on choisit d’en retenir.
