I had to rest well after last night before posting this, lots of love to @monadnyc for putting together this beautifully curated gallery of images, there was lots of talent and beauty in the room last night 🥹😭🫶🏼

My first gallery of many to come, the gallery was called WE BELONG HERE 🗣️🗣️ As soon as i found out about it i had two options, push something I’ve shot or create something from nothing with a little over a month to execute and I decided to do the second!!! I had help from so many people for this project that helped me crank it out in less than 6 weeks 🥹😭

I want to thank those who came out to view the exhibit and support at the gallery big love to @tabitha3ll3 (who also designed the dress i was wearing for this event for me from a cobija I sources for her!! 🥹), my friend @angel_blaze_official who no matter what the deal is he shows up ready to support bro i appreciate you, & my little sister @jen.taro my creative twin, meant a lot to have you pull up regardless of your time constraints yesterday 🥹 & anyone who couldn’t make it i appreciate the love i received online I will catch up on getting back to all of you ASAP.

My heart was filled with so much love last night, to see something that started as a vision come to life and speak up for what i stand for and to represent my culture so loudly meant the world to me, this project was self funded, required a trip to tj & was also sourced goods from our local community from people selling a variety of artesanal goods, or handmade goods from Mexico. I tried to buy from people running their own side hustles or people just trying to make some money during these hard times and was a labor of love all around. Thank you to everyone i met along the way putting this together! I love you all!

This whole project was an absolute labor of love and passion that stemmed from countless days and nights of depression, feeling defeated and watching a timeline of just chaos and choosing to say we won’t give up and we will speak up and have our voices be heard!!! 🗣️🗣️🗣️ RESISTENCE THROUGH ART ✨ thanks to everyone involved about I couldn’t have done it without you all! These beautiful women called me from their car just to show me love, I reciprocated. Throwing up hearts, signs that say fuck ICE, happy to be there supporting the cause was so beautiful to see, the last couple shots she told me “LOOK AT MY SHIRT!” Had to make sure y’all seen in too, love our communities we are so beautiful and full of love 🥹🫶🏼

There’s something about @trenzas.amigas events that just fills my whole heart with joy, resistance in Trenzas, community seeking with women from all walks of life, and just the cultura that shines through the array of colors behind each strand of hair. I’m so blessed to have met you all and look forward to keep coming out and supporting the community through art, because at the end of the day we’re all we got and wouldn’t have it any other way 🫂💕

I had the loveliest time today with @trenzas.amigas 🥹🫂🫶🏼💚🤍❤️ Nothing like spending my morning with amazing women! Some cafecito, y muchoooo muchhooo amor 🥹😭🫶🏼 My heart is so full I can’t wait to be back tomorrow and post this recap! If you’re ever in the Santa Ana area come through and follow them ASAP! Yesterday was a day I’ll forever hold close to my heart. So much investment of time, money, energy, creativity from so many people not just myself went into this project and it really filled my spirit up to start the year off on the right foot 😭🥹
Big shoutout to @_smolss & @aber.nal22 for nailing the look and staying committed through the rain, wind, and just hours of work to get the shots.
To @angel_blaze_official my good friend coming along for the ride to really support as needed on production from helping me haul equipment, to gaffing, to even helping make sure the pieces laid nicely with all the wind and external factors at play you made a hectic situation run smoother than ever!
Also to @tabitha3ll3 for working night and day on such a short notice to reconstruct the women’s pants from a Gaban, the men’s pants from two jeans, and working her tailoring magic on the tops and the hand stitches embroidery for the men’s top, you did your big one!
To @avitianailz for the custom nail set done overnight to meet the timeline and for always going above and beyond 🥹🙏🏼 thank you for always having my back and just genuine support I’m so grateful for you!
To @trenzas.amigas for driving to meet us in Ontario and work her magic on the trenzas, watching you get to work really warmed up my soul, reminded me of getting my hair done as a kid and I felt like I had my trenzas done FR, and for the lovely bows you gifted me, they’re beautiful!!
Honestly I couldn’t have asked for a better group of people for this project, thank you all for believing in us, for standing by my side and uplifting the vision every step of the way I couldn’t have done this without you all, a couple weeks ago this was just an idea in mind and you all made it REALITY!
Looking forward to continue making SOMETHING OUT OF NOTHING with all of you and anyone truly invested in the passion of creating. A couple weeks ago I wasn’t sure I’d be able to fund this but so many of you even invested first hand into this and IM ETERNALLY GRATEFUL FOR Y’ALL can’t wait for everyone to see what TEAMWORK can really do 🙏🏼🥹😭 LOVE YALL!
