One Year + One Month = 396 Days

One year ago today, Jayde walked out of rehab and into a new chapter.

Getting here wasn’t easy.

There were unresponsive nights, empty bottles, accidents, frightening situations, failed attempts at therapy, deteriorating health, and moments when I questioned God.

Substance misuse affected more than Jayde. It affected our marriage, our family, my health, my peace, and my emotional well-being.

Then came the waiting.

I cried.
I fasted.
I prayed.
I questioned.
I trusted God anyway.

On August 17, 2025, Jayde took her last drink and chose recovery.

Today, September 17, 2026, she celebrates ONE YEAR + ONE MONTH of walking out of rehab and has only looked back to see how far she’s come!

Her clarity is returning. Her health is improving. And one of the greatest miracles of all - our relationship has been restored🙌🏽

Jeremiah 30:17 says, “For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the Lord.”

To the parent in a waiting season: keep praying. Keep believing. Set the boundaries you need to set. Love your child without enabling their destruction. And trust God with what you cannot control.

This testimony is no longer about what almost broke us.

It’s about the God who brought us through 🙌🏽

From the first day of preschool ➡️ high school:

Somehow, we blinked and our baby boy went from big feelings and shoes he could barely tie…to a freshman in high school who is MUCH taller, wiser, more opinionated, and somehow still asking me what’s for dinner every night.

Each first day has brought a new chapter, a new version of him, and many lessons for all of us.

We’re proud of the boy you’ve been, the young man you’re becoming, and the person you’re choosing to be. Keep being YOU, keep growing, keep God first, and don’t let the world convince you that you have to fit in to stand out.

And yes…I will still take first-day pictures when you’re 30!

Kindergarten: “When I grow up, I want to work in a Nike store.” Tell me you’re a sports family without telling me 😂

First Grade: “I want to be an athlete and help people when I grow up.”

Second Grade: This picture says, “here she is with that camera again. Let me smile.”

Third Grade: New state, new school, new beginnings, and a major growth spurt!

Fourth Grade: Who taught Jasper how to smize 🤔

Fifth Grade: The end of school uniforms.

Sixth Grade: Officially in middle school.

Seventh Grade: Homeschooled but let’s keep the trend going with a pic from August 2024. Shout out to Joy’s Educational Services for the rigorous curriculum and well-rounded homeschooling experience 🫶🏽

Eighth Grade: Homeschooled so traveling to LA to watch Bird play @ USC was a geography lesson.

Ninth Grade: Second day of school. Yes, there are first day pics but that’s a story for another day 😂

Bonus: We wore Jansport bookbags or LL Bean with your name embroidered if I’m being honest 😂 Now a bookbag is part of the outfit. I can’t even! by @lady_kay

One entire year of loving our sweet girl 💚🎂

From the very beginning, you’ve carried such big brain energy: curious, observant, bilingual, joyful, and already keeping us on our toes!

Whether it’s leaning towards the phone on FaceTime, melting into the sweetest snuggles when we’re together, lighting up anytime you see your God siblings, or getting excited when Uncle Reese says, “hey Uncle’s Baby,” we know you’ve already learned how to work a room! And somehow, by 7 months old, you were promoted to God Auntie status 🥰

You bring so much laughter, softness, and joy into our lives. Watching you grow this first year has been such a gift. Happy 1st bEARTHday to our smart, smiley, and loving Remi. Godmommy loves you endlessly ♾️

Four years. One degree. Countless sacrifices, setbacks, prayers, and perseverance.

Yesterday, we celebrated our son: a scholar student-athlete who completed college in 4 years while maintaining a GPA above 3.0, balancing academics, football, and the weight of real-life responsibilities with determination beyond his years.

Moving from Connecticut to Florida to pursue a more competitive football program in high school, to turning that opportunity into college recruitment…you understood early that purpose requires sacrifice. You never allowed obstacles to become excuses. Instead, you used every challenge as fuel in the classroom and on the field.

And after 401 days of a medical redshirt, fighting your way back to the field showed me a level of resilience that cannot be taught. You kept showing up. You kept working. You kept believing!

Although this undergraduate chapter has closed, your story is still being written, and I know this is only the beginning of what God has for you 🙏🏽

Congratulations on this incredible accomplishment. Watching you become the man you are today has been one of the greatest honors of my life.

This Mother’s Day gift is one words can only summarize - never fully describe. I am beyond proud of you and I love you beyond the moon 🦅

Just like the weather, marriage has seasons - Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall…we’ve been through them all!
