Happy to announce that Baby Jayla has found a new home at @maryland.tfxc
After an unexpected chapter in her journey, she’s officially transferring from the University of Kentucky to the University of Maryland, and our family couldn’t be more excited for what’s ahead.

This journey has also given me a front-row seat to just how much college athletics has changed.

There was a time when recruiting was about finding athletes with potential and developing them into champions. Today, far too often, it’s about immediate results. NIL, the transfer portal, and the pressure to win have turned college sports into a business where too many student-athletes are treated like assets instead of people.

This wasn’t personal.

It was business.

Coaches are under tremendous pressure to produce results immediately, and athletes are increasingly expected to arrive on campus as finished products instead of being given the time to grow, develop, and overcome adversity.

But adversity has a way of revealing who you really are.

Jayla never complained. She never quit. She stayed focused, kept working, trusted God, and earned another opportunity to compete at one of the top programs in the country.

I’m incredibly proud of the young woman you’ve become. Keep trusting God’s plan, keep putting in the work, and never let someone else’s business decision define your value.

Maryland isn’t just getting a talented athlete—they’re getting a resilient competitor, an outstanding teammate, and an even better person.

Go be great, Baby Jayla. Your story is just getting started.

So proud of you, baby Jayla ❤️

After a year of fighting through injuries, setbacks, and moments most people never see… you came back and ran a PR in your first race back. That says everything about your heart, your discipline, and your resilience.

This wasn’t just a race — it was a statement. A reminder that tough seasons don’t last, but tough people do.

Keep trusting the process. Keep showing up. This is only the beginning.

We love you and we’re proud of you every step of the way. 💙
