I always felt behind, as if I had entered the kitchen through the wrong door.
I did not become a chef because I worshipped one. There was no white coat hanging in my dreams.
Then, at fifteen , I found Ruth Reichl’s Garlic and Sapphires and for the first time food was not a chore, it was poetry. A meal could hold memory, longing, tenderness. A plate could speak before a person ever did. That was the moment I understood what I wanted, to make food that could make someone feel seen, feel held, feel something worth remembering.

Twenty-four years later, the doors of Cynthia open every night, and one by one people leave the table only to come back to me and say, ‘that was special’.
And every time they do, the fifteen-year-old inside me believes it a little more. But Cynthia is not mine alone.
Together, my business partner and I built it with the hope of breaking the barriers that for too long
have held this industry back, to create a space where kindness matters, where people are valued, where hospitality begins behind the kitchen doors

A few days ago, a chapter came to a close for me alongside a family that helps me grow—one that helped me become better and motivated me to keep moving forward. @5acres_nyc was not merely a workplace; it was a place where I learned and met people who were instrumental to my personal and professional growth. Now, I have a new path to travel and a different beginning ahead of me. I am grateful to everyone for the opportunity they gave me to get to know them; I leave behind friends and colleagues, but I take with me beautiful memories. Thank you. Chef @gregbaxtrom They were 3 wonderful years #recuerdos #nyjobb #family #friends. hace unos días se terminó para mí un ciclo al lado de una familia que me ayuda a crecer me ayudó a ser mejor y me motivó a seguir adelante. @5acres_nyc no solamente fue un lugar de trabajo fue un lugar donde aprendí y conocí a personas importantes para mi crecimiento personal y laboral. Ahora tengo otro camino por recorrer y un inicio diferente agradezco a todos por las oportunidad que me dieron para conocerlos, dejo amigos, compañeros de trabajo, pero me llevo hermosos recuerdos.
