It’s STAND UP!’s pub day!! Happy reading, singing, drawing, podcasting, acting, writing, and whatever else makes you feel like “you”! I’ll be at Third Place Books in Lake Forest Park TONIGHT at 6pm talking about Stand Up! and about making books with my friend @michellieart. I hope we see you there!! And just like with last book release… I would be so happy if you would send me pictures of Stand Up! with your pets! Nothing makes me happier than knowing that our furry friends are reading comics. ;) @littlebrownink @thirdplacebooks @littlebrownyoungreaders @triadausliteraryagency • Edited by @andreacolvinkc • Colors by @andyharvest by @ladygoofus

Link in bio! 💌 I LOVE talking about publishing and helping authors feel capable of achieving their dreams. So I’ve been just so grateful to hear that y’all have been finding this goofy, earnest zine useful! Thanks to everyone who’s already bought Slush, and to everyone who’s reached out, spread the word, or left reviews. ❤️ Slush would make a wonderful holiday gift or stocking stuffer for any writers or illustrators you know who want to have their book published someday!!! I do my best to show that the career of being an author is more approachable than it seems. Print and digital versions are up on Etsy! Etsy.com/shop/noveltori ❤️🖋⭐️📖💌 by @ladygoofus

Just Pretend hit the children‘s Indie Bestseller List this past week!!!! I really don’t have words, thank you so much for all the love you’ve shown to Just Pretend during its debut week, and for supporting your local indie bookstores! My book is surrounded by such amazing titles on the early reader/middle grade list. 💛💛💛 This is such wonderful news, and I’m just so grateful that lots more readers will hopefully find Just Pretend because of all the enthusiasm y’all have shown during its launch. THANK YOU! (Also... PLEASE keep sending me photos of Just Pretend with your pets, even if it’s just through DM’s, because I can never get enough of that!!) ;) #indiebookstore #justpretendbook #seattleauthor #seattleartist #childrensbooks #kidsbooks #kidsbookstagram #bookstagram #graphicnovels #comics #kidscomics by @ladygoofus

You don’t need Wednesday’s vision seeing ability to know when our Featured Contributors meet and greets are! For our great and wise witches from the programming branch of the #GGC coven have conjured it for us all!

Don’t forget your grimoires! Or purchase one from the great library (@charliesqueerbooks) to get signed!

Who are you excited about meeting?

This interview was a delight!!! I’m feeling so inspired to doodle more diary comics. Thanks to Alex Graudins for coming on The Page Turn Podcast and sharing your joy about improv and autobio comics! 🥳📚✨🎨 #artpodcast #makingcomics #podcasts #graphicnovels #kidlit https://youtu.be/m66vcDL3IGQ?is=IYFlyQrDbaQjQ-zJ by @ladygoofus

Let’s see how I did with using establishing shots in my second book, Stand Up! Even three books in, I still have to remind myself to slow down and show where characters is in space before zooming into the action. Making comics is such a fun puzzle. 🥹 #graphicnovels #comicartist #sequentialart #kidscomics #howtodraw by @ladygoofus

Establishing shots are super important in comics!!! Somehow I got away with not really having one in my debut. 🫣 I kind of love it though. #graphicnovels #kidlit #childrenscomics #comicartist #illustrator by @ladygoofus

Cover reveal AND (!!!) title change reveal!!!! Previously known as Wing It, FLUTTERS is coming to bookstores on May 18th from Little, Brown Ink. Preorders mean the world to authors and seriously help both the success of a book and our future careers! Right now, Barnes & Noble is offering 25% off (plus an extra 10% off for premium members) so it’s the perfect time to nab yourself and the kids and tweens in your life a copy. Flutters takes place immediately after Stand Up!, but it can absolutely be read as a standalone. Let me know if you preorder through this sale, and I’ll doodle an animal of your choice wearing a silly hat. :) The sale ends Friday, so don’t wait!! ••• The cover design is by Ann Dwyer, and the gorgeous interior colors for this book were done by Bones McKay. Flutters was acquired and edited by Andrea Colvin (@andreacolvinbk) and further edited by Rachel Stark (@_syntactics_). I am so excited for this book to be out in the world so soon!!! It’s overall a happy story, but it makes me cry every time I reread it—I was such a late bloomer with dating and with figuring out I’m aspec, and I would have adored a book about a character sorting through big, messy feelings about dating while he’s surrounded by so much love. I hope you’ll love it! #BNPreorder #kidlit #graphicnovel #kidscomics #kidlitartist by @ladygoofus

Did you know that if you give your character a dragon, you can make it pink? In fact, you can make all your characters wear pink, too, or give them all pink accents. Life changing! ••• #comicartwork #characterdesign #dragons #kidscomics #fantasy by @ladygoofus

Could not be happier for my agent @taylorthomasbrent, who just launched July First Literary! Brent is easily one of the best agents in the business, and I count my lucky stars constantly that I signed with him in 2018. He is a publishing visionary, has a masterful editorial eye, and is simply so kind. I’m grateful as well to Triada US for eight amazing years and have nothing but positive things to say about them! Cheers, Brent, as you start this new adventure! I’m so happy to now be represented by July First Literary! #literaryagent #publishing #tradpub #kidlit #bookagent by @ladygoofus

5 years of JUST PRETEND!!!! Yesterday I got to see Taylor for the first time since before writing this memoir about our friendship. That was SO special. Even though I cherish our long phone calls, it meant the world to see you and to meet more of your family in person. It’s been way too long since we’ve been in the same city at the same time, but I’m so glad that the reason is that we’re living such full lives! You are truly one of my very favorite people, so thoughtful and sincere and bold and brilliant, and I always feel so grateful to have you as one of my best friends. I’ve known you for almost 30 years now, and look at that, we’ve still got our heads in the clouds!😆 I also wanted to share this picture I really love of me and my goofy and remarkable dad from when I was a kid. 🥰 I’m so lucky to get to call you Dad. I love both of you so much, and the other friends and family members who appear in the book! Thanks for being so supportive about these stories I shared in Just Pretend. I think we all make pretty cute cartoons! ••• Just Pretend was edited by @andreacolvinbk, represented by @taylorthomasbrent of @triadausliteraryagency, and published by @littlebrownink! #kidlit #graphicnovels #childrensbook #middlegradebooks #childrensauthor @lbschool by @ladygoofus
