“Birds flying high, you know how I feel.” With that first line, “Feeling Good” assumes you already understand. 🕊️

The song begins already inside the feeling and trusts you to be there, too.

This opening line is harder to sing than it looks, because I have to arrive already full.

Whenever people ask who sang “Feeling Good” first, I think of every vocalist who has stood before this same first line.

It reminds me of the moment I wait for in a room, when someone recognizes the song, begins to sing along, and I watch bliss settle into their eyes and their whole body.

To me, that is the true meaning of these lyrics, the audience letting you know they're already with you. ✨

A photograph can hold what no one in a room ever gets to see: a single second of singing, held perfectly still. ✨

In a room, an expression drifts across a singer's face and is gone within a beat.

When I sing, my intention is to connect the voice to the words and to the feeling that lives behind them.

This “Feeling Good” cover is the Nina Simone classic I'm singing from the middle of my own rebuild. 🕊️

I'm walking toward a new identity and letting go of the woman I used to be.

I've promised myself to be more visible and to let my light shine, even on the days fear walks beside me.

Of all the songs about rebirth and healing, this is the one my spirit asked for this year.

The meaning of “Feeling Good” has never lived so close to my own story.

It is a testament for anyone in a season of rebuilding, almost like a phoenix rising from the ashes. ✨
