The Gathering Spot (@dcgathers) hosted an open day at their club for The Congressional Black Caucus Week in DC, and between getting some work done and connecting with community, I met some incredible people doing meaningful things across industries. Huge shoutout to The Gathering Spot for offering the opportunity of complimentary headshots for guests… because clearly, I needed one 😂 BAD.

Random rant if you’re still here (;
I didn’t plan for headshots. I didn’t plan for perfection. Shoot, my nails weren’t even done. I didn’t plan to meet phenomenally cool people (of faith too 🥰). I just showed up.

And that just might be the tea 🍵

Lately, God’s been showing me that when I stay rooted in His purpose, aligned in simplicity, and open to the unexpected, He always ensures I’m ready, even when I feel like I’m not. And I thank God for that, because WHEW. 🙌🏾

✨ Juneteenth: ChatBlackGPT ✨

For Juneteenth, I had the honor of attending the first annual ChatBlackGPT dinner here in DC. It was a night centered on recognition, reflection, and the future of AI.

We heard from Erin (founder of @chatblackgpt ) and her team about why it matters that Black voices are included and leading in this AI transformation. Standard AI is being built on the same biases that already exist in society, making it urgent for us to be present, shaping and curating our own narrative in this transformation.

What inspired me most was hearing how other Black founders and entrepreneurs are already leveraging ChatBlackGPT to build, inform, and scale their businesses. The vision is about us in tech + access, culture, and protecting the identities of those who often get left out or left behind.

This dinner event was a reminder that as AI grows, so does OUR responsibility to ensure it reflects equity, truth, and possibility for OUR communities.

As history has shown us: when we aren’t at the table, decisions get made about us.
