Word has it ....I HAVE A PRINCESS!👸

That's my story since the day she was born literally and I am sticking to it! It has taken me a few days to process what has happened here, but for those wondering, I will sum it up in a nutshell.

In 2019 Dejea was influenced by some very amazing people to start her advocacy in protecting our future in the Cayman Islands and helping to make our islands as sustainable as her and the rest of the young people she could convince around her to join her in doing the same.

Her journey would then trickle over to the international platforms where she received immense support and encouragement from so many people around her. She received many opportunities to represent our islands in her truest form. That also came with a lot of challenges and lack of support from some of the people in places we would expect a bit more support, but it never deterred her.

She continued her journey by advocating at her university abroad and still mentoring young people at home to help push forward with different projects. In 2022, she was nominated by a group of people to be a candidate for the Princess Diana Award and received the award amongst a large group of people around the world and the first for the Cayman Islands.

Fast forward to 2023 and she was put in the pool of the winners of the previous Diana Award to now be nominated for the Diana Legacy Award that is only awarded to the previous recipients of the past two years. Out of 1200 recipients, there was a platform of judges that chose 20 awardees for this year's award and let us just say my baby girl DID IT AGAIN.....She has received the highest award a young person can achieve for their humanitarian and social work!

To say I am proud of her is definitely becoming more of an understatement. I am lost for words, for her drive and determination to make not just Cayman but the world great again. If I'm honest, being amongst all the young people over the past week gave me a bit of imposter syndrome. The work they have done is mind-blowing, to say the least.

Continue to be you honey. I have learnt sooo much in 15 Yrs that I thought having a 23 year old would have prepared me for but boy was I wrong. My lil dare devil, talented and creative boy, I love you more than words can express.

Stepping into chapter 46 with nothing to prove and everything to notice. The past year has challenged me in ways I could never imagine. But God is one amazing God and what would life be if it was just smooth sailing?

Thank you to my husband, my kids and my mom for always seeing me through. For my additional support system, you know yourselves, I love each and everyone of you so much. I will continue to walk in God's purpose and enjoy this beautiful life he continues to reward me. I think it's safe to say I am loving this little life🥰😍

23 Plus years of loving you (I'm counting the 9 months you were baking) my sweet girl!

I never imagined the way my love for you would grow. You have become one of my very best friends. You are one of the coolest humans that I have had the pleasure to love and I am so proud of the woman you are becoming. Watching your growth, energy and determination is top tier. You are so selfless and the people in your circle get to witness this everyday.

I pray that God continue to bless you, keep you and guide you my sweet girl and may you continue to walk in your purpose.

To my amazing daughter Dejea, your graduation is a testament to your hard work, dedication, and passion for the love of country, the love of people and most importantly the love of life.

One of my biggest dreams for you was to give you everything I did not have, plus some! All through the challenges, you remained humble and grateful and never complained. Your circle was always strong with some real true ones, and your faith was definitely always bigger than a mustard seed. I am so proud of you for remaining true to who you are and standing strong to your beliefs.

Thank you everyone for the most beautiful birthday messages, calls and voice notes. Every single one of you near and far made my day extra special. I am so humbled by all the love!

So thankful for my growth and the past year that I have learned how to stay silent and let God. Thankful for my continued blessings and looking forward to an amazing year ahead.

This year was perfect and one of my favorite chapters even through all the trials...about to witness history for our beautiful family and I can't wait to share that moment with everyone 🤗
