I won an Emmy! When she arrived last week, my amazing husband @realgpjackson intercepted and hid the box and planned an “Emmy Unboxing Party” in a matter of hours! I had no clue it delivered! I was eating dinner with my babies in my bathrobe when family started showing up to my house. I was so confused!! He asked me to change into an outfit he picked out! I argued that I was not going anywhere in this summer heat wearing heavy sequin pants! But I indulged and when I came back downstairs my whole family and a host of friends and extended family were on zoom, and a huge box was sitting on the counter! I was truly speechless!! I’m thankful to have shared my winning moment surrounded by people who love, value, and support me! I have been blessed to work on several Emmy nominated and/or Emmy winning shows in the past decade BUT this is the first win that earned me my own Emmy with my name on it! #newsemmys #emmywinner #emmys2026 #emmyawardwinningproducer #godsgotablessingwithmynameonit by @laflem24

My son, My first born, my love…it brings tears to my eyes just typing out this message because you are such a blessing. God gave me the awesome task of being your mom in a seemingly impossible time…new job, young marriage, and a global pandemic! You have taught me so much, you taught me how to be joyful in the midst of grim circumstances, you taught me how to fight - a lesson you learned in the first few days of your life - and you taught me about an indescribable love that I didn’t even know was possible. I love you so much! Your empathy, love, passion, your wit, smarts, the things you understand and express at this very young age blow my mind. Juneteenth isn’t a gift. It’s a correction.

Black people were never not free — freedom isn’t something a government grants, it’s something it can only delay acknowledging. What happened in 1865 wasn’t liberation. It was the system finally catching up to a truth that had already been true.

Shoutout to @opallee for the decades of work it took to get this recognized as a national holiday. That fight mattered.

But here’s what I want people to actually sit with: for some of us, this day isn’t a calendar entry. It’s family history. It’s something passed down, not looked up. If you had today off and you don’t know whose labor and whose fight made that possible — that’s worth more than a long weekend. Find out. Sit with it. I’m a proud mommy! My baby boy is moving on to 1st grade!! I’m honored to help raise the next generation of young black boys who will one day be leaders! Their very existence is constantly under attack in this Nation, but praying mommy’s and daddy’s and grandparents will continue to fight to give our children the very best and prepare them to be the leaders this Nation and the world needs! I know it’s just Kindergarten but the way we love and teach them at this age is what will set them up for success later! I love my baby boy so much and I love his little friend crew and their mommas!
