If your planner keeps saying, “I really wouldn’t advise that…” there is usually a reason. 😭

Most experienced planners are not trying to control your wedding or shut down your ideas. We are looking at the decision through a completely different lens: timing, logistics, guest experience, vendor capacity, budget, venue limitations and all the little things that can become very big problems on event day.

And yes, sometimes you may still decide to go ahead anyway. It is your wedding.

But one of the hardest parts of event planning is watching a concern you raised early become the exact emergency you are later expected to solve.

Experience does not make a planner perfect. It simply means we have seen certain patterns enough times to recognise where they can lead.

So when your planner flags something, ask why. Have the conversation. Understand the risk before dismissing the advice.

Because sometimes the problem that feels “unexpected” on event day was actually discussed weeks or months before.

Trust your vision. But also trust the professionals you hired to help protect it.

What we want for our wedding is usually the easy part.

A beautiful day.
Less stress.
Good vendors.
A sensible budget.
Family peace.
A wedding that still feels like us.

The harder part is being honest about what those things actually require.

Sometimes it means setting boundaries early. Sometimes it means adjusting the guest list, trusting your planner, asking better questions, leaving room in the budget for surprises and miscellaneous expenses, or simply accepting that not every idea belongs in one wedding.

The dream matters.

But the decisions behind the dream matter just as much.

That is where good wedding planning really begins. 🤍💜
