I’ve been experimenting with ceramics on and off for 4 years but never got to properly glaze any of my pieces. Never got to properly witness them as finished pieces until I took some classes in South Korea. These are my very first glazed pieces. The finished pieces made me fall in love with pottery a little bit more.
I made these pieces at @cedomic_objet under the guidance of my instructor Sunny.

I’ve been doing pottery a lot more consistently now, and I finally feel confident enough to start posting and selling my pieces.

Barefoot in the Midnight Forest

Two months of going to the studio every single day. Churning out pieces, trying things, trying more things.

I spent most of that time wondering what my style is. I still don’t know. But I do know which colours I keep going back to, and it’s these: dark greens, with rust flashing through.

When I look at these cups I think of walking barefoot on grass at midnight. That’s why the bottoms are left raw. Another thing that i gravitate towards; the tactility of fired clay without any glaze on it.

You can find them at the Design Makers Market at Design Museum Gent on 4 October.

There are your plans, and then there are the kiln’s plans. Mine almost never win..

I had very different expectations when I glazed this piece and what came out was something else altogether. But I’ve come to enjoy the mystery of it. Every single time has been a nice surprise so far. by @laibaa.aslam
