POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Growing up, I was always known as Laila who sings. That was my identity. It was — and still is — who I am.
After this performance, maybe for the first time ever, I had people come up to me and say, “I didn’t know you sing,” and it hit me.

This year — my most challenging year so far — also gave me the gift of wearing different hats.
the choreographer — and the imposter syndrome that still hasn’t brushed off.
the dancer/swing — which still sounds very crazy to me.
the director and teacher.
And my favorite: the auditionee, still figuring out how to get her foot into this crazy industry.

Turns out, I can wear them all while still very much figuring it out myself, learning and growing. Telling stories through song and dance is who I am and who I’d like to be.

Thank you @mina.n.hanna for always being a wonderful accompanist, musician and friend to share the stage with.

@nallouba Thank you for your constant trust and support. So grateful🤍 by @laila_ashraf

From this year’s Neveen Allouba’s Annual Christmas Concert ✨❤️‍🩹

The first time I ever performed in this concert I was 13 years old and I sang “Castle on a cloud” from Les Misérables. 11 years later, I got to play Eponine, I’m having the time of my life on stage with some of my bestes friends singing and putting this together last minute, I’ve graduated with a BA in Musical theatre and have signed with my first choice agency.

I’m not going to lie it’s been tricky to manage my thoughts and feelings and motivation since graduating but looking at the bigger picture, I feel so blessed and ready for what this year holds for me.

I’m just beyond grateful for the people in my life. Merry Christmas everyone, lighten up. 🎄✨ by @laila_ashraf
