Nothing could have ever prepared me for the pain of losing you so soon, Dad. It still feels unreal waking up each day and realizing you’re no longer here. This past year has taught me so much, most importantly, to slow down and appreciate the little things, because you never know when they’ll become the moments you miss the most. I watched you fight harder than anyone I’ve ever known. I watched you struggle through pain that would have broken most people, yet you never gave up. Even on your toughest days, you were still thinking of everyone else, making sure we were okay, making sure we had what we needed, making sure we felt loved. That’s who you were selfless, strong, and full of love. You had this incredible way of lighting up any room you walked into. Your laughter, your smile, and your presence made everyone around you feel safe and happy. I’ll forever miss the sound of your voice, your advice when I needed guidance, and your hugs that made everything better. I am endlessly grateful for the sixteen years I got to spend with you, 16 years of memories, laughter, lessons, and love that I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life. You taught me what it means to be strong, to care deeply, and to never give up, no matter how hard life gets. Even though it hurts not having you here, I find comfort in knowing that you’re finally at peace, free from pain, and watching over us. You were my biggest joy in life, the person that made me the happiest. I’ll continue to live in a way that makes you proud, carrying your love and your spirit with me always.
