Every time I look at this picture I think of Medusa.

“Who, feeling a funny desire stirring inside her (to sing, to write, to dare to speak, in short, to bring out something new), hasn’t thought she was sick? Well, her shameful sickness is that she resists death, that she makes trouble.
And why don’t you write? Write! Writing is for you, you are for you; your body is yours, take it!” (Hélène Cixous)

I’m aware that videos this long are probably not favoured by algorithms and don’t get that many views or likes but even at the risk of that:

A somewhat blurry video of Once Upon a December at Skillz Gym Winter Aerial Showcase 16.12.2023 with @helsingivocal choir, organised by @adviceineeded and @skillzgym

Live music + movement = a love story

More of things like this please✨

I took a leap of sorts yet again: challenged myself with an improvisation task, set up a loose structure of what I could possibly do, and went for it, enjoying the moment and movement. It has taken blood, sweat and tears and a lot of hard work to make it look easy and make it possible.

Festen 2026

What a ride it has been and only one left! I thank you all for everything, you are the best!

In this I get to play a senior staff member of the hotel and restaurant, in charge of the restaurant service, so I’ve had a unique view of the unfolding events 😬 I can tell you that being on the stage in this production has felt like being in a movie set! It is very alive, very much realism and naturalism, with a dark comedy twist.

I hope you’ve seen it. This is contemporary opera and live theatre at its finest.

Fun fact: the librettist Lee Hall is the same guy that wrote Billy Elliot (both the film AND the musical!)

ONE MORE SHOW TO GO!

And let the opera and music theatre adventures continue✨

Tosca 2025 at Finnish National Opera
’Te Deum’ @oopperabaletti

Kuva: Emma Suominen

Hands down the most glamorous costume I’ve worn on stage! I played a ’Rococo woman’ and technically I also play that I’m a member of a theatre troupe that is visiting Scarpia’s (Scarpia is the baddie of the show) palace. So an actress playing an actress.

Fun fact: I’ve played a soldier and Roberti the executioner in another version of Tosca at the Savonlinna Opera Festival! So I know the piece and the music pretty well 🤩 taken in Kansallisooppera - Finnish National Opera by @laineverna

The highlight of 2025 was definitely getting to apply my favourite aerial skill on the main stage of the Finnish National Opera, hanging upside down from one ankle in the fantastic Animal Farm. I played a butcher that the animals beat in a fight and then hang on a ’meat hook’. I hope to get many more opportunities such as this to really make use of all the skills I have accumulated over the years. Being on the stage truly makes me feel alive.

Fun fact: I am that bloody figure lying on the floor in this picture

Hansel and Gretel / Hannu ja Kerttu 2025 ✨

📸 Ilkka Saastamoinen

This production was my fourth premiere at @oopperabaletti this year (second of the season) and sixth premiere altogether (two premieres with @physicalopera this year as well! 😍) I can’t believe I’ve made it to a point where this is my everyday life. I hope it continues, but for now, I’m trying to make the most of what is HERE, TODAY, NOW!

I hope for many more new adventures and challenges as an actor, mover, aerialist, creative, pedagogue - there’s so much I am capable of doing (and nowadays it is apparent to me that I can juggle a lot of things at the same time - limittäin, lomittain, peräkkäin, päällekkäin, you name it!)

HAPPY WORLD OPERA DAY!
Now that a new season is in full swing it’s also a good moment to post some highlights from the previous season✨

ANIMAL FARM by Alexander Raskatov
My acrobatic debut at the Finnish National Opera! I honestly never imagined I’d end up performing in and working on all these fantastic opera productions when I was starting out my studying and training. Yesterday was my 5th opera premiere within a short period of time and there may be a few more still coming up 😉

To work on a stage brimming with the artistry and craft of so many people is something I will never take for granted. Keep it coming 🙏🏼

(Season 24-25: Phantom of the Opera, Don Carlos, Animal Farm, season 25-26: Elektra, Hansel and Gretel and Tosca coming up in November.. and perhaps some more in the spring!)

THANK YOU❤️‍🔥
