A lil’ sketchbook piece- Gouache and Micron pen
.
One of those pages that has cool details but I almost felt was genuinely too ugly to share. Art is supposed to be interesting to look at and ideally grab people’s attention- but sometimes I experiment with colours and techniques that make me want to crawl out of my skin. It feels uncomfortable putting extreme details into some areas while leaving other parts looking unfinished. Getting more comfortable sharing the weird though! Any other artists relate to that feeling sometimes? by @laineybug_art

City Living- 2026- Gouache, Pencil Crayon, and Pastel
.
This piece was inspired by some new friends I made this past weekend who were visiting from a city busier than I could ever imagine. I was also thinking about the buzzing energy I witnessed during my trip to Montreal(the largest city I’ve been too), and the fast-paced hustle and bustle of it all. I can appreciate the crowds, skyscrapers, and chaos in small doses- and it makes me feel even more grateful to live in the middle of nowhere!

I am always curious to hear what pops into people’s minds when they see my art. Abstract is definitely not everyone’s cup of tea. Whether you like it or not, I think that it forces people to look at things from a new perspective. When we view abstract art, we are also taking a look inside our own minds. Whatever you perceive my abstract art to be- that’s what it is! by @laineybug_art
