At least it shouldn’t be.

Every nail grows differently. Some grow straight out. Some curve down toward the finger pad.

Downward growing nails are common, especially on the pointer fingers. But if they’re not corrected during the service, this happens ⬇️

Lifting, breakage, and discomfort. Whether you’re typing, texting, or even just picking things up, your nail will feel that excess tension causing all sorts of problems.

Correcting the growth direction means proper apex placement and stress point protection from the beginning. Not just filing the surface to look straight, but redirecting how the nail extends over time. Get it right, and the client gets a set that’s comfortable to live in, not just pretty in photos. Longer retention, less lifting, and zero pain when they’re just going about their day.

This is why I emphasize teaching the foundations in my course because nail art means nothing if the structure underneath it is compromising client comfort and nail health.
