Q1 marked a significant milestone in my journey as a journalist – 10 incredible years filled with unforgettable experiences, invaluable lessons, and countless memories.From fulfilling my dream of working at CNN to having the honor of covering prestigious events like the BET Awards, every moment has been a testament to dedication and passion. Interviewing icons like Tyler Perry and numerous other celebrities has been an absolute privilege, each encounter adding depth to my storytelling journey.

In addition to these achievements, I’ve had the opportunity to inspire and empower others as a motivational speaker & adjunct professor sharing insights and lessons learned along the way.

To everyone who has supported me along this incredible journey, I extend my deepest gratitude. Here’s to the past decade of achievements and to many more years of striving for excellence, uncovering truths, and making a difference through the power of journalism.

Today, I’m finally ready to tell you what I’ve been unlocking. 💜

Voice Unlocked was created a year ago with a completely different purpose. But life has a way of giving things new meaning.

I AM A DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SURVIVOR.

Those words are personal. They carry experiences that changed me, challenged me and ultimately helped me understand just how powerful our voices can be.

That’s why Voice Unlocked is returning with a deeper purpose.

This platform will be a space for domestic violence awareness, education, survivor stories, prevention, resources and advocacy.

A space for the person who hasn’t found their voice yet.
For the person who spoke and didn’t feel heard.
For the person who doesn’t recognize the signs yet.
And for survivors who are ready to use their experiences to help someone else.

I don’t have all the answers, and Voice Unlocked isn’t here to replace the professionals already doing this work. I want to amplify their work, connect people to credible resources, create conversations and use my own voice with purpose.

This is personal.
This is purpose.
This is Voice Unlocked. 💜🔓🦋

When I first created Voice Unlocked, I knew I wanted to help people find their voice. What I didn’t know was how much life would teach me about the importance of finding my own.

I’ve thought long and hard about bringing Voice Unlocked back. 💜

This time, it’s different. This time, it’s personal. And with everything happening around us, I believe it’s necessary.

Voice Unlocked started with one purpose, but life has given the name an entirely deeper meaning for me. I’ve lived. I’ve learned. I’ve healed. And most importantly, I found my voice.

Now, I’m ready to use it in a way I never have before.

This October, Voice Unlocked returns with a deeper purpose and a story that’s personal to me. 🔓🦋

There was a season (honestly, I’m still in that season) when I felt completely lost. I questioned the delays, the changes, the endings, and why life wasn’t unfolding the way I thought it should.

But God was asking me to do something that felt harder than having all the answers.. be still and trust Him.

Now I’m beginning to understand. Some things had to end. Some doors had to close. Some plans had to change. I wasn’t being forgotten; I was being redirected. 🙏🏾

I’m grateful for every blessing, every lesson, and even the seasons that didn’t make sense at the time.

Trust God. Trust His timing. And most importantly, trust the process 🌱🙏🏾 by @lakia4real
