A little reminder that sometimes becoming your best self starts with… cleaning out your closet. 🧺✨

We’re chatting with home organizer Lauren from Simplified by Lauren about decluttering, creating systems that actually stick, and how the space around you can impact the way you feel.

If your home (or your brain 😅) could use a little reset, this episode is for you. 🤎

@goop Editor-in-Chief, @amysynnott trusted me to transform one of her closets, and it’s proof that not every closet transformation requires a custom build or a five-figure budget.

The organizing products for this entire project cost under $500, and the transformation took just one day.

High-performing people are incredibly good at what they do, but that doesn’t mean they have the time or mental bandwidth to create systems for their own homes. That’s where I come in. My job is to create systems that reduce decision fatigue and make everyday life easier.

Organization isn’t about not having enough space. It’s about using the space you have intentionally. The right system can completely change how a space functions and how easy it is to keep organized, regardless of its size.

Would you believe this transformation took just one day?

2025 arrived with an enthusiasm for disaster that bordered on theatrical. It began with my roof caving in during a flood, an event that occurred two days before Los Angeles caught fire…for the first time, and then again in December, as if to underline the point. This was followed by two emergency-room visits, a chipped tooth, and what felt like an increasingly symbolic parade of other calamities. The disorder inevitably bled into my small business, upending any illusion of planning or control. For a stretch, “trusting the universe” felt less like a spiritual practice and more like a practical joke. Some friendships shifted in ways I trust will continue to evolve with love, while others grew deeper. There were long periods in which success meant nothing more ambitious than staying afloat, a goal complicated by the abundance of water.

And yet, none of that is what lingers.

What remains most vivid are the people. The ones who appeared without fanfare and stayed. Friends who offered their homes, their patience, their listening ears, a big hug whether they knew I needed one or not, and their attention, whether I was literally fleeing a natural disaster or figuratively trying to piece my business back together with optimism and borrowed duct tape while expanding into the Bay Area. Hope survived in modest forms: small victories, unanticipated generosity, laughter that arrived unexpectedly and stayed longer than planned. I was buoyed by friends who believed in me enough to support my work, encourage my ambition, and remind me why I had begun at all. And by the Soul Points Fund, a steady, grounding source of goodness that has felt like a warm blanket at the end of a long day.

The year was messy, even farcical at times. But it was also, beautiful in all the ways that count. I grew. I traveled. I made decisions that protected my mental health and advanced my career. I took risks. I learned how to advocate for myself, and how to discern what and who deserves my energy. When I look back now, I don’t see the fires or the floods or the many many tears. I see the people who showed up. And that, as it turns out, is the point. ❤️🥂 by @lalamoyer

With our steadfast belief in the power of community, we’re proud to announce A Sense of Home’s partnership with Mark, Katie and the Duplass family under their incredible nonprofit, The Soul Points Fund.

Dedicated to providing fire survivors with restored hope and dignity, these remarkable volunteers recently created homes for an ASOH former foster youth and several families deeply affected by the LA fires. Joined by their loving network of helpers — including Lindsay Sloane Rollins, Christina Moses, The Soul Points Fund representative Lauren Moyer and more — we’re honored to collaborate with @thesoulpointsfund community as we continue to support over 1,000 fire affected families on ASOH’s waitlist.

This is only the beginning. Thank you @markduplass @katieaselton @lalamoyer @thesoulpointsfund for your dedication to uplifting and empowering our neighbors.

True story: I quietly dread my birthdays. The pressure, the expectation to plan, and the subtle mourning that comes with aging another year give me ulcer-inducing levels of anxiety. The irony is I love celebrating other people, but celebrating myself has always felt… well, dreadful.

It has been a big year filled with floods, fires, health battles, shifting relationships, and a general sense of unsteadiness. Through all of it, I have realized how much I have to be grateful for: unexpected joy, friends who have shown up, family who supports me, time with people I love, opportunities to give back, and my Breville espresso machine.

This year for my birthday I decided to attempt an escape. I traveled to Switzerland and Italy, thinking distance might quiet my mind. Of course, it does not work that way because you carry yourself wherever you go. But somehow, standing beneath new skies in nature that feels untouched, makes the weight feel softer, and for a fleeting moment, you almost believe you have outrun the noise. I road-tripped through breathtaking mountains and lakes, shared long meals, laughed and cried with old friends, swapped stories and danced with new ones, and soaked up the quiet moments that made the world feel just a little bit lighter.

Somewhere in there, I realized that getting older also means gaining wisdom and becoming more equipped to drop into feelings of gratitude. Gratitude for your people, your experiences, and the messy, beautiful privilege of making it through another year. Feeling inspired and ready for what comes next…here’s to 42 and silver linings ✨ taken in Italy and Switzerland by @lalamoyer
