The raven is guarded, watched as much as it watches, held close out of fear as much as reverence.
Cage and relic share the same structure.

Black feathers meet the rigid grammar of enclosure, where devotion and confinement are drawn with the same bars, and what is kept safe is also kept in.

The swan is kept for its beauty, preserved as an image before it is allowed to be a living thing.

Its whiteness is tended, its grace displayed, its stillness expected.

Tulle, feather and corsetry build a softness that holds its shape by force, and elegance becomes the most gentle form of captivity

Every act of protection contains a hold.
The falcon is trained to return.
Its flight is real, but its direction has been taught: jesses, glove, hood, thefeather tools of a bond made through discipline.

Here the apparatus of falconry enters couture as strap and structure, and freedom appears only in the shape that has been designed for it.

Every act of protection contains a hold.

The pigeon is the bird no one asked to keep. It lives among us and is refused for it, met with spikes, nets and surfaces designed to leave no place to land.

Here the architecture of rejection becomes wardrobe: the defensive line turns into silhouette, and the body wears the very apparatus built to push it away.

Care, in this chapter, is measured by distance.

Rather than permanent constraints, these elements symbolize structures that can be questioned, challenged, and ultimately removed.
