If you are professionally doing something not utterly humiliating and dehumanizing under capitalism count yourself as very lucky.

When I first asked Nicholas McMaster @mcmasters_hammer to do a remix for me over a year ago I had no idea it would become so much more than that for me. Nick has such a singular voice that comes through in his work with his band Krallice. Yet I wasn’t prepared for the portals and sonic universes that would open with his compositional density and unrelenting brutality. This is just the beginning of what we both believe must be an ongoing collaboration. I am so excited for everyone who is interested to experience what for me is a sonic delight.

👉 We are delighted to announce and welcome back M Lamar as this year’s Jacki Apple Award recipient!!
Lamar was one of our 2013 FUND for Performance Art recipients.

His project Mandingo Tarantino is a patriarchal cock fight between Lamar, as a self-determining Black male artist and Quentin Tarantino’s fantasies about Black men, interrogating how these fantasies overdetermine both the external representation and internal self-perception of Black men.

This work was made possible by the Jacki Apple Fund, administered by Franklin Furnace, in memory of Jacki Apple’s contributions to the New York community since the early 1980s through her writing, teaching, radio shows, and artistic practice. by @lamar_m_lamar
