We are very excited to welcome Lamin Fofana to Shelter Press with Corps Perdu, his new album and first release on the label.

“Corps Perdu presents an introspective journey with no return, and as such is full of omens of all kinds.”

Across ten tracks, Fofana creates a shifting landscape of melodies, rhythms, field recordings and dense processing, inspired in part by Aimé Césaire’s Corps Perdu and the writings of Édouard Glissant, Sylvia Wynter, Fred Moten and others.

The first extract, “To Become Liquid,” is streaming now on all platforms.
Corps Perdu will be released on October 16, 2026 as a 2×LP, with a limited edition of 200 copies on Evergreen Opaque vinyl, exclusively available through Bandcamp.

I made this while reading Aimé Césaire. The sound is deeply indebted to his mythopoetic, incantatory poems and epics, but also driven by a range of other writers I hope you can hear in the paraliterature. A desire not merely to annotate, but to stretch and transmute the experience, to multiply the possible meanings.

This work sends me into spirals. One foot on the ground, the other in outer space. I’m very fortunate to have a family to hold me down.

Stefanie, Theo, Toumani - thank you for the kindness, the support, and the good grief.
Longtime friends and new friends, you know who you are. Thank you.

Pascal (@scalmun) - thank you for linking me with Bartolomé and Félicia (@felicia_atkinson) at Shelter Press (@shelter_press). B+F, your enthusiasm and steadfast support for this project meant the world.

Rashad Becker (@rashad__becker) is a magician. Thank you, Rashad, for the stunning work as always.

Christian, Tamara, and all at École du Soir (@ecoledusoirworkroom) - thank you. Justin (@frenchgold) - thank you for your presence and kind support. Infinite gratitude to all the listeners.

Corps Perdu is out now as a 2xLP with limited edition Opaque Evergreen exclusively on Bandcamp.

Looking ahead to the next chapter of @blast.rtf - see y’all tomorrow. by @lamin.mp3

On Saturday, October 17 at 7pm, École du soir is pleased to host Preludes: To Become Liquid, a performance by Lamin Fofana @lamin.mp3 . It takes place as a listening and collective reading program within an immersive sound environment informed and inspired by the reading, the density and the richness of the concepts, histories and possibilities of Black Studies. The evening will mark the release of Corps Perdu, Fofana’s new album emerging from his ongoing engagement with the relationship between sound and text.

In To Become Liquid, Fofana offers a multisensory listening space in which performance, collective reading, and open dialogue converge, with the aim of generating an environment of critical reverie. Throughout the evening, pages or fragments from works by seminal historians, poets, and theorists including W. E. B. Du Bois, Sylvia Wynter, and Aimé Césaire are circulated among the audience. Everyone is invited to read aloud at any moment, and to cultivate an active, collaborative space that resists disengaged modes of reception and fosters instead a shared and attentive participation.

The performance is co-presented with Lamin Fofana’s record label BLACK STUDIES @blast.rtf , and it launches Fofana’s and BLACK STUDIES inaugural residency at École du Soir Workroom, playing host to mutual collaborations between Fofana and École du soir that will extend into convening, production, programming, and learning experiments.

Back on NTS this month with a special guest. I’m joined by John Also Bennett, an Athens-based American composer and musician. Alongside tracks from his recent Sacred House EP, John shares early influences and personal favorites, including works by the late composer and pioneering pianist Michael Harrison, unsung Indian classical master Imrat Khan, Laraaji, Maggi Payne, Michel Redolfi, audio extracted from a video game CD-ROM, and more. by @lamin.mp3

BLACK STUDIES debut on @nts_radio tonight.

6pm NYC, 12am Amsterdam.

Another approach to radio-making. Integrating WhatsApp & Voice Notes. Friends and collaborators send in drops, voice notes, and whatnot. I stitch the pieces together. This collaborative approach I hope makes for intriguing radio.

On this episode, I’m joined by Mohammed Tatour, an Amsterdam-based Palestinian artist. We contemplate Adania Shibli’s Minor Detail, language, and untranslatability. Special selections featuring music by Taymour x Bareetlblad, Kiss Facility, HAAi with James Massiah, Wadada Leo Smith, Vijay Iyer, Surya Botofasina, and more.

To Become Liquid _ Overture to Lamin Fofana @laminfofanatrio’s research stay at @hangar_org, January 2026.

'To Become Liquid' operated as opening gesture of the album Corps Perdu (forthcoming on @shelter_press), leaving the door ajar onto a trilogy of sound works within a long-term project provisionally titled Surrounding World.

By proposing a multisensory listening space-time where liveness, collective reading, and open dialogue converge, 'To Become Liquid' nurtured an environment of critical reverie—a deliberate listening milieu conceived to support dreaming, thinking, imagining, and the articulation of voice and sound. This threshold allowed for moments of irruption that disrupted flow and narrative, opening onto collective experiences of alternative modes of listening and bringing to the forefront nonlinear forms of thought and perception.

‘To Become Liquid’ emerged from Lamin’s sustained reflection on the transmutation of text into sound. Here, reading was approached as a form of listening and observation. And listening understood as an active, non-passive engagement with sound and with the surrounding world. During the occasion, fragments of texts by W. E. B. Du Bois, Sylvia Wynter, Dionne Brand, Fred Moten, Édouard Glissant, Suzanne Césaire, and Aimé Césaire were circulated and read among the audience.

💙 Thank you, Lamin, for your generosity throughout—for the conversations, sensitivity, and your deeply caring way of engaging with life.

💦 A huge shout-out to everyone who participated and helped hold this testing field together—those who sustained the shared tension of experimentation and attentiveness that made this collective listening-enunciation interface possible.
