What happens when you’ve outgrown the one thing that you always found safety, shelter, and familiarity? You’re home. The place where your roots began. I moved away for college in 2014 and never lived back in Minnesota. I would go to visit and I will go straight back to the city. I lived in. I loved going home. I still do.

I’m realizing that God has uprooted me from where I could always turn to if things didn’t go out as planned.

Lately, I’ve wrestled with the younger me who placed that safety net of “you can always go back if it doesn’t work out.” I’ve never wanted to fall into it, so why did I allow it to constantly be an option?

The truth of the matter is, we never went back home to stay. No matter how hard things got. No matter how lonely we felt. Not even when we were on our last leg. We fought. We endured. We grew. So it’s time for our younger selves to get out of the front seat and away from the control room lol it’s time to take charge of becoming “Her”. 🖤 #OffScriptPodcast #myiahinmiami #curlygirlsonair by @lamyiahptv

I believe that we often times dream big. Whatever the goal is, we shouldn’t lose sight of it. But what if it’s time to loosen the grip on the plan we have in order to get to the promise?

God will give us the vision and sometimes he will even give you details on the promise. But the journey getting there may not be what you think it is. Sometimes we have to go through unknown paths. Sometimes we have have to go off script.

Episode one is nothing but me crying girl! So don’t judge me. The goal was to get this thing started even if I had to cry half the time doing so. But shout out to the softest towels made — @cleanskinclub 💕

The dust has finally settled. @nabjsouthflorida raised THOUSANDS of dollars to help make the journey of “following your dreams” easier for young black scholars.

I am proud to be apart of such an amazing Executive Board that moves mountains to pave a better path for the next generation of journalist.
