The ocean was so sparkling today! I didn’t do any painting, just lots of pictures. I hope to get to my easel to paint some waves again very soon. #oceanbeach #longislandartist #artistlife #longislandbeaches #oceanwaves by @lanaballot

My new course is all about capturing that golden evening light at the beach. I love the rich colors it brings to the dunes and how it’s warming up the blues in the ocean! It’s such an honor to have my painting, Deep Green, in the PSA 54th Annual Juried Exhibition, Enduring Brilliance! And it is even more exciting that it received the HK Holbein Silver Award! Thank you to PSA, the judges and sponsors - everyone who makes this amazing pastel event happen. Congratulations to all artists in the show! The exhibition can be viewed at the National Arts Club Galleries, New York. It runs through September 24th. #enduringbrilliance2026 #oceanwaves #coastaliving #marineart #pastelartist by @lanaballot

Something very different for me. It’s still in progress. I’d like to do the whole series of boats eventually. The big challenge for me is not to get to much details in, though it’s so tempting. #pastelpainting #coastalart #boatart #marineartist #longislandartist by @lanaballot

It’s a framing day in my studio. Sometimes it’s hard to guess if the frame will work with a painting when ordering it online. Not this time - this silver wood frame is perfect! And has a nice contemporary look. #pastelpainting #oceanwave #pastelartist #marineartist #coastalart by @lanaballot

My next Zoom class is starting in September! The focus will be on how to choose better reference photos, how to improve the composition, how to make sure that the interesting parts don’t get lost in the busy surroundings. See the link in profile for more information about the class and registration. The subject to paint will be up to you. #onlineartclass #zoomartclass #artvideos #pastelpainting #pastelartist by @lanaballot

My new wave is finished! Check it out on my site (link in profile). This one gave me a chance to play with beautiful splashy edge of the wave and the lovely glow of its translucent part. #coastalart #oceanwave #oceanartist #pastelpainting #pastelartist by @lanaballot

Late afternoon light brings out warmer rich colors in the ocean. This wave is from a couple years back, inspired by the rocky coastline of Rhode Island. #oceanwave #sunsetocean #pastelpainting #coastalart #marineartist by @lanaballot
