INDIGENOUS PEOPLES' DAY
❤️Teaching her where she comes from, so she can always be proud of who she is.

One of the most important things I can teach my daughter is where her roots began. She deserves to know the history, culture, traditions, and stories of the family that came before her. She deserves to know the people, the sacrifices, the love, and the strength that helped shape the family she belongs to today.

Her family's roots trace back to Mochitlán, Guerrero, Mexico. While we are still learning more about our family's Indigenous ancestry, I want her to grow up understanding that her heritage is something to honor, explore, and be proud of. There is so much beauty in knowing where your family comes from and understanding that those stories are a part of you.

I want her to know that culture is more than a flag, a holiday, or the food we eat. It's the language spoken by generations before us, the traditions we carry forward, the hands that prepare meals for the people we love, the family that stays connected across miles, and the history that deserves to be remembered.

I want her to grow up with pride in every part of who she is. To never feel that she has to choose between parts of her identity, but instead understand that every piece of her story belongs. I want her to ask questions, learn from her elders, appreciate her family's journey, and carry those lessons with her as she grows.

Because one day, I hope she passes these stories on to her own children. ❤️

Our children cannot carry forward what they are never taught. So we teach them. We share the stories. We celebrate our roots. We honor those who came before us. And we remind them that knowing where you come from can help you understand who you are and who you want to become.

For our daughter, for our family, and for the generations still to come.

Su historia también importa. Her history matters. ❤️
