POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Although it’s almost a week since Lancaster County District Attorney Heather Adams announced two separate investigations at high schools, the community is still reeling.

The cases have their differences, but Adams issued a warning for mandatory reporters to “act with a child protective mentality as opposed to a school protective mentality.” However, there seems to be some confusion and loopholes when it comes to what actually should be reported in cases such as these.

This week LNP | LancasterOnline Podcasts spoke with the LNP | LancasterOnline reporter on the story as well as an advocate for children to dig a little deeper.

The Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office confirmed Friday that it is investigating a Susquehanna Regional Police Department employee, three days before a meeting to discuss the police chief’s status.

Erik Yabor, a spokesperson for county District Attorney Heather Adams, said in an email Friday that the Susquehanna Regional Police Commission’s disclosure of the probe is accurate.

“Though our office doesn’t typically confirm or deny the existence of investigations, in this case, due to a statement released by the Susquehanna Regional Police Commission stating that an investigation into one of their employees has been initiated, we can confirm that such an inquiry exists. We have no further comment at this time,” Yabor’s email read.

An abandoned Hampton Inn located just off the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Rapho Township has changed hands five years after it closed. But its new owner says extensive interior damage leaves demolition as the only option.

The tax sale of the longtime eyesore at 2764 Lebanon Road (Route 72) was finalized earlier this year for $610,000, according to county property records. It’s now owned by a limited liability company controlled by Scott Bowser, who manages the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire with his wife, Heather.

Currently a portion of the property is being used to alleviate traffic congestion during the Renaissance Faire.

School District of Lancaster officials Tuesday announced further plans to consolidate the district by closing Wheatland Middle School ahead of the 2029-30 school year and remodeling the K-8 campus at E.R. Martin as a replacement middle school.
