As I sit here this morning and feel the hurt of loss, I reminisce in the memories of our time together. My younger brother, strong as he was, has found rest.

Trayc was the strongest person I knew and the first person who made me feel like the older brother I am. As I’m sitting here, through moments of sadness and nostalgia, I frequently think about all of the times that we had together, and what my life will look like moving forward, without you.

A disease that has no cure, afflicting a pure form of innocence, of love. Taking from so many a symbol of hope, courage, and bravery. Trayc signified in so many ways what it means to be a brother, he was kind, caring, genuine, and always stood firm on what he believed.

As I process this unimaginable loss, even with the advantage of preparation, I struggle with imagining what life will be like without you. What will Christmas time feel like, or your birthday? What will seeing a power ranger in a store feel like, or watching someone have a passion for baseball? Will it be this hard forever? What will it feel like whenever I come home and you aren’t here? Will I find peace in knowing that you no longer in pain?

I hope you can hear my cries from Heaven, and have peace of mind knowing that you will always have a place in my life and heart, even when you may not physically be here.

I am pleased to announce that on May 15th, at 9:00AM I will be graduating from the University of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology and a minor in Psychology.

These past four years have been nothing short of incredible, teaching me some of the hardest lessons of my life and ultimately shaping my values, work ethic, and dedication to my community. Through every moment of discouragement, hard time, and difficult assignment, I have been able to rely on such an involved community to push me to be my best.

A special note to mention my late brother, Trayc. It feels almost full circle that his journey ended as I graduate, as four years ago when I first started college he was diagnosed with cancer. I will forever miss you brother, and I hope that you are up in Heaven as a proud brother, friend, and angel.

As I end this journey at the University of Southern Mississippi, I am thrilled to announce that I have accepted a full-time position at The Shafer Center for Crisis Intervention as a Rural Victim Advocate. My work here will include servicing victims of sexual assault in rural counties and assisting them on their journey of healing, while simultaneously spreading prevention awareness and supporting these communities.

Thank you, again, Southern Miss. My mem’ries here will forever be cherished!
