Indigequeer joy has a sound system tonight!

✨ The BAAITS Drum brings intertribal songs and the medicine of the drum to Queer A.F.
✨ The legendary Landa Lakes, Chickasaw performer, co-founder of the first public Two-Spirit powwow, and OG of Indigenous drag, takes the stage.
If you think drag and Indigenous tradition are separate things, Landa has been answering that assumption since before most of us had Instagram. Come get your mind opened and inspired. 🧠🔆
Learn a little about Two-Spirit identity with our installation, featuring a 6’ paper maché hummingbird (huitzilin), @landalakes “ Deer Woman” look, and several other 2S/Indigiqueer works and photographs. 🪶🪶🌈🌈 (on display through August)

🌺✨ Huitzilin:Two-Spirit & Indigequeer Mini Exhibit — Opening Reception ✨🌺

Come celebrate joy, visibility, and 2S/Indigequeer artistry with us! 🌈🪶🪶🌈
Join us Friday, July 3rd from 5–7pm for the opening of Huitzilin: The Hummingbird, created by the @baaitsdrum.
Featuring works by Sen Mendez @artforthepeopleproject, Vick Mantaño @creative_mudafukah , Tanya Wischerath @tanysawischerath, plus a special installation of Landa Lakes’ @landalakes Deer Women look!

At 6pm, we’ll pause for a special screening of two short films by Javier Stell-Fresquez: Mother/Forgotten Blaze and Chaak & Yum. (Thanks to @jfresquez @arizmendi roberto_fatal @hellasainttropikahl)

Expect color, community, and a hummingbird who’s been waiting a very long time to be seen again. Bring a friend!
