Conceived shortly after I started earning a living through art, this piece reflects upon the mental drudgery of commuting to a dead-end job.

The System benefits when you live a life that isn't yours, and it will remind you in horrifyingly banal ways.

All There Will Ever Be

Earlier this year I was invited to work on this Coinbase spot with the amazing team at @antistudio.global

I was tasked with building two things:

1. A crane that automatically picks shipping containers off a random stack, and animates side to side in a controllable, time-lapse way.

2. An endless field of shipping containers that can be parametrically edited, or even masked with a pen tool. This one was about 3.5 million hi-poly models I believe.

All procedural. All interoperable in the form of plugins (HDAs) that could be distributed across the team and used by anyone.

It was also surreal to see this air during the NBA Playoffs.

This was one of the funnest projects I’ve worked on–enormous thank you to the team for inviting me along ⛓️

#sidefxhoudini #cgi #octanerender by @landistanaka

In The Rain for @odesza

It’s always hard to translate detail to an LED wall. If it looks too “good” it becomes illegible. So the approach here was to create the mood and rhythm of water without depicting the body of water itself. Pleasantly surprised with how it turned out!
