BORO REPAIR 001
“Stormy Weather”

About 2 years, 100 hours of hand done sashiko on top of machine stitches on a straight leg i altered into a flare jean. Destroyed, repaired, distressed, repaired and distressed again. Lovely moments in this one as i also went over moments with machine stitches as well. Really this jean was a way for me to learn how to see space in sashiko by making me repeat and follow along the lines and hardwire 1/2” hand sewing into me. Was hard fought but made me stronger and wiser for more projects like this.

Color is important to me so these became a distressed painting and learning how different fabrics of the same associations culturally play with each other on top such as the knit and heavy cottons.

tie dye upcycle V1

first time at @sothebys
so interesting how fluid the pieces move around after each sale. They were uninstalling and installing all day. truly unlike any gallery experience and almost sacrilegious.
