Executing high-end, Quality Millwork through Precision
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Thoughtful millwork can make a small home feel surprisingly generous. Making the most of the home’s smaller footprint, while creating space for both function and collecting.

A former walk-in closet became a compact office, with deep drawers below and open shelving above for books and collected objects. In the dining room, custom plant shelves turn an existing window into a layered display. And in the kitchen, custom cabinetry gives the kitchen a tailored feel brings the same attention to detail to the heart of the home.

High ceilings are an opportunity to design vertically.

At the Sedgwick Residence, custom millwork helps balance the scale of the space while adding character and making auxiliary spaces, such as the foyer and flanking walls, feel more intentional.

Calm interiors often come from thoughtful restraint.

This Bucktown duplex balances clean lines with wood, marble, and rich textures to create a home that feels refined, livable, and layered. With minimalism, the goal is not to strip a space bare, but to use a limited palette, natural materials, and editing to make every detail feel considered.

One wall, two purposes: a home for your collected pieces, and a place to slow down.

At Sedgwick, we incorporated a custom millwork wall with built-in shelving that combines practical storage with a reading nook. The space was reconfigured as part of the broader renovation to also add a secondary bathroom and a dedicated office, giving this Lincoln Park home a more functional, well organized second floor.

Holstein Park is a duplex carved out of a 3-flat, and the footprint pushed us to be more intentional.

No wasted hallways, just a natural flow from the kitchen into the dining room that makes hosting feel like second nature. The island gives you a place to prep while staying in the conversation. The flat-front cabinetry and built-in storage mean everything is out of sight before guests arrive.

A well-designed bathroom should feel like a retreat, not just a utility.

With a skylight and a palette of natural materials, this primary has quietly become a favorite room of the Holstein Park home.

The best kitchens are the ones built around routine.

At Sedgwick, the coffee bar does exactly that. Tucked into the kitchen, alongside a dining nook, it gives a young family recently settled back in Chicago a small, dependable ritual each morning, a place to pause before the day picks up speed.

Guided by the quiet minimalism of Scandinavian and Japanese design, this home embraces warmth, texture, and thoughtful restraint.

From the white oak millwork and sculptural curves of the kitchen to the layered textiles and custom detailing of the primary bedroom, every element was selected to create a sense of calm and connection.

A grounded palette, natural materials, and intentional craftsmanship carry the story from room to room.

Simplicity + Organization / Our clients home, once an industrial workshop, was at one time converted into living space. The layout never had anything to organize itself around and felt unresolved. A large oak “cube” in the center of the space housing the mudroom and pantry play off of a metal clad fireplace and screen in the living and entry areas. Simple@moves with huge results.

Open plan living offers a lot of flexibility, but it also asks more from the design.

Without walls to define each area, intention has to come from somewhere else. At Holstein Park, custom millwork steps in to shape the space, creating zones, adding storage, and giving the eye a natural place to land.
